Her manager and one of the other co-workers participating in the group sex act were vomiting, she said in her lawsuit. While one vomited in the trash, the other threw up right in her guacamole bowl, she alleged.

Probably the best paragraph in the whole article.

Republicans pulled this same shit during Obama’s tenure. They have no intention of negotiating in good faith. They want the shutdown so they can point their fingers at Dems during their campaigns in the coming year. We’ll have a shutdown, suspending important government agencies and furloughing hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans just to manufacture an anti-liberal talking point.

This is definitely me. I never feel hungry in the morning until I’m nauseous. Fortunately, my wife found these protein bars at Costco that are pretty good. I’ve been packing one of those with me to work and i eat it just as I’m starting to feel gross (or all the coffee starts tearing up my stomach). Small enough that I don’t feel more sick, but enough food to get me through the rest of the day.

I kind of enjoy the circlejerking to an extent. It’s like watching fads come and go in real time, and I like seeing these dumb memes evolve over a week or two before disappearing

I haven’t played many of the indie games on the list, but I’m glad to see Sea of Stars get some love. It’s probably the best game I’ve played in the last year

… Phyllis Emerick, the chief deputy public defender in Monroe County, argues that because Hannah’s husband and his family consented to the surveillance, they gave up their rights to privacy. “He agreed that he would not access electronic devices in his household in exchange for release,” she says. “It was the family’s choice to continue living with him.”

jfc, how heartless is this man? The husband hasn’t even been convicted of a crime at this point, and his rationale is, “well, you chose to still live with him.” This whole thing is disgusting

Last time I flew in the US was back in April, and I still had to do all of those things you mentioned. Not sure how you got a free pass

I think a lot of mods probably use RES on desktop, which will still be functional after this. But yeah, statistics say that 3PA are only used by about 5-10% of users

I see that your wife and my wife have the same remote on their wishlists

Pretty sure they only hate Jewish immigrants. There seems to be a lot of crossover between American anti-semites and people who want Israel to carpet bomb Gaza

Army of Darkness

They said terrible films, not the greatest horror film of all time

This is really a shame. Insurgency is one of the best FPS games I’ve ever played

Interesting. I do think it’s bullshit that you can’t claim a ticket anonymously in a lot of states. I get having to provide info for tax purposes, but you shouldn’t be required to publicly announce your personal info to claim it

I mean, they kind of are, right? We just pay all of our tolls up front in the form of vehicle registration

Niche communities will organically begin to congregate in one or two places in the fediverse over time. It won’t happen instantly. The same thing happened over at Reddit, but they’ve had almost 2 decades for it to happen, and communities are still fragmented there. Just look at r/gaming, r/games, r/pcgaming, etc. It’s no different on the fediverse, the only difference is that these communities might share a name. So instead of having r/gaming and r/games, you have two communities both named c/gaming.

For now, what I do is search for the community I’m interested (i.e. Linux in your example), take a look at the number of users subscribed to each option and pick the largest one as my main source. If I find the quality of that community to be lacking, I check out the other ones as well.

I don’t have an answer for you, but I’ve dealt with this same thing my entire life. It’s not a conscious decision, I just find that I never fully complete a task I set out to do. The number of games I’ve dropped 80-90% of the way through is staggeringly high. My home projects always get about 75% done and then are left alone, doomed to be unfinished. The only solution I’ve found is to set smaller goals. Tasks that require multiple sessions of activity before completion are very difficult for me and I quickly lose motivation. I also struggle with completing tasks if I have any sort of interruption, such as getting a phone call or stopping to make dinner. This is why I gravitate toward esports for gaming. I can complete a session within an hour and nothing is left open-ended. The problem there is that I actually prefer playing longer, story-driven games, I just can’t keep myself focused on them over multiple sessions

This thread is for UNHELPFUL advice. This right here is the best advice anyone has ever offered

This kind of thing happens all too often. Going in for a surgery that your insurance will cover? Oops, we forgot to mention that the anesthesiologist is actually out of network, so you’ll have to pay out of pocket for that part.

This is quite the existential question! Of course, there’s really no “right” or “wrong” answer, and there are so many different ideas on what the meaning of life is.

My opinion? There isn’t one. The fact we exist at all is a wildly random event, and the fact we are conscious of it even more so. Life is meaningless, so we create our own meaning. For me, the meaning of life is to strive for happiness (not BE happy, we can’t be happy 100% of the time), bring happiness to those around me, and leave the world better than I came into it. I don’t give a shit about legacy, since I won’t be around to enjoy it. The only legacy I care about is that I made life better for the people I love.

Treat others with kindness, be mindful of the world you live in, and do more of what makes you happy.

Pedal Steel. First time I saw one played live was at a Bright Eyes show when I was in high school. I know they’ve been around for a long time and are prominent in country music, but watching and hearing it played in person just blew me away. I feel like the instrument conveys so much emotion in its sound

Custom firmware like tomato or ddwrt can be fun to just play around with and learn more about networking. I used my old router temporarily as both a wifi repeater and as a wifi receiver using custom firmware. I didn’t need it for any particular function, but it was fun to experiment with

A friend messaged me on Steam at like midnight last night telling me to pick it up. I don’t love the aesthetic but everyone is saying it’s pretty incredible. From what I have seen, movement looks really good, which is a big deal for me in FPS games. Figured I’ll jump on the bandwagon as well while the player count is still high

Mine originally was a reference to an album by Val Emmich, “Slow Down Kid”. I used that for a long time and finally decided that since I’m in my 30s it was time to drop the “kid” part. slowd0wn is now my online/gamer handle and has been for several years

Oh man thanks for the link! I’ve only started listening to The Weakerthans in the past few years and will definitely be checking out this performance

Under A Blood Red Sky is the reason I added Red Rocks to my travel bucket list!

Doesn’t this only work if the LLC is created before the purchase of the ticket? In addition, LLC docs are public record, you can look up the operators registered under an LLC

Easily the best track on The Crow OST. Seeing The Cure live is on my concert bucket list. They’ve come through Seattle a handful of times in my life but I’ve never managed to get tickets

Used to, but I haven’t touched the stuff in almost a year now. Started making me anxious/paranoid more often than not

Oh man, Rubber was such a fun movie. I’d almost forgotten about it!

I was thinking more along the lines of MC Lars

You’re just saying tea tea

This was exactly what I was thinking. I remember trying to run it on my GTX 970 and it definitely struggled in places. Expecting this to be 30fps max with low graphics on the Switch.

Yeah, they’re fantastic for, uh, “vases”

Fall Out Boy also changed pretty significantly around the same time as PATD. I think as they got a larger following they just followed the money. Hard to blame them for it, but they’re first 3 albums are so much better than the later stuff. I’ll absolutely still listen to it, though

I think it’s a Costco brand one, it’s a chewy peanut butter and dark chocolate bar

Accidents by Alexisonfire is the song I play when I’m having a rough day at work and I need something to power me through the last little bit

Man is brainwashed into blindly following libertarian extremists

Haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but besides the performance issues at launch this looked like a really enjoyable game. Maybe the main issue is that the genre is relatively niche? That coupled with the recent big releases

On the flip side, kbin users CAN follow other users. Kbin has a feed like Lemmy, but also the “microblog” which is basically tweets. You can link the microblog to Mastodon servers and follow and interact with users from that platform as well. Mastodon, Lemmy and kbin are all different technologies that are allowed to interact with each other, and we as users get to pick the ones that best fit our needs. It really is an amazing concept
