Interesting comment on the Mac. At my workplace we can choose between Mac or Windows (no Linux option unfortunately, my personal computer runs Debian). Pretty much all the principle and senior devs go for Mac, install vim, and live in the command line, and I do the same. All the windows people seem over reliant on VSCode, AI apps, and a bunch of other apps Unix people just have cli aliases for and vim shortcuts. I had to get a loaner laptop from work for a week and it was windows. Tried using powershell and installing some other CLI tools and after the first day just shut the laptop and didn’t work until I got back from travel and started using my Mac again.

It’s not a deal breaker, but I’m a guy who is into female bodybuilders. I lift a lot myself and have always been attracted to muscle. The bigger the muscles the sexier.

I want to get rid of this shit so bad, of another junior dev submits a shit MR they can’t explain because they had chatGPT write it I’m going to explode. Also, the number of AI executives we have in charge of our manufacturing company is somehow more than we have in charge of manufacturing, and guess what?! They are all MBAs who haven’t written a god damn line of code in their life but have become professional “prompt engineers”.

One of the reasons Boeing sucks is this. First reason is McDonnell Douglas bought Boeing with Boeings money, hallowed out the soul that built the world’s greatest aircraft, then sold what was left off to the big investment funds. Then the investment funds were like “look at all this money Boeing is spending on safety and suppliers” so they cut out the safety and bought out the suppliers. The horror stories of quality control at some of the suppliers is just as bad if not worse than some of the horror stories of quality control at Boeing. What if I told you Boeing fought to have ECS (environmental control systems) software that was written by third world “programmers” that didn’t speak English to remain on their aircraft illegally, claiming it didn’t pose a threat to safety, you know those systems that determine if there is enough oxygen to breath at altitude and whether the temperature inside the plane is survivable…

150 foot tall Demi-god who can crush cities beneath his feet, break mountains with his fists, and can cause hurricanes with his breath. Doesn’t use any of those powers and just likes explaining advanced physics and astronomical phenomena to the layman in simple terms whilst also being entertaining at the same time.

This is the exact opposite of my experience. Most doodle owners go the extra mile for their dogs, buying them actual food instead of kibble, getting them R+ trained (don’t say you love dogs and then train them with any other technique), they are active in their dogs lives, taking them to hike, walks, parks, family gatherings, and owning a doodle you understand that they still shed and need to be groomed a lot more than other dogs.

The worst owners and dogs by far and away are pit bull owners. Everyone thinks that their little “pebble” or “velvet cow” is so cute until it rips a toddlers face off, but then it’s somehow the toddlers fault.

I own a doodle, but probably the most engaged owners I’ve seen are greyhound/former track dog owners. They form bonds with dogs that have been abused and maybe only have a couple more years left, that’s tough.

I use Firefox because I want you use a web browser whose main focus is browsing the web.

One that constantly comes up between me and my partner is fashion related. She is very liberal but when it comes to our relationship is the exact opposite. She buys everything from lacy thongs and g-strings to boy shorts underwear. She hates that I as a man wear thong and bikini underwear, too. I’m athletic, lift and workout 5 days a week, and get hot very easily. I like the support and minimalism of thongs for that, but she always buys me boxers which are uncomfortable and bunch up and all the extra fabric and cotton makes me hot and sweaty and chafe. When I bring up she wears thongs just do she doesn’t have panty lines and I wear them for comfort and support she doesn’t understand. She also mentioned she thinks guys wearing thongs is weird but then says it’s so “brave” when gay guys do it during pride. I once called her out and homophobic for assuming it’s a fetishized gay guys only thing and she got mad, but am I wrong?

I’m not an old dude, but I mean these women need that crowd to make money. It’s weird calling them creeps but at the same time they are posting nearly nude photos of themselves publicly on social media. Who do they think is following that content? Physicists at CERN calculating the new gravitation force off of your oversized diaper butt BBL? medical doctors determining the tolerance a 115lb woman with 1000cc of silicone can tolerate? Get real, you’re posting your tits because you know exactly those types of dudes will follow and you can either trick them into giving you money for feet pics or buying you a weekend in Dubai.

These 22 year old “model influencers” will be begging for these old dudes to pay them attention when they hit the wall in 5 years.

Also, I pay for 4k streaming but because of compression or something else they are definitely not sending me 4k content. I was watching a movie on Netflix that I had forgot I pirated. Both were 4K but the quality of the pirated one was far superior.

If Twitter has nothing to hide, then they should have no objection to this bill.

I can’t believe a lawmaker said this with a straight face. This was the same logic to pass the Patriot Act .

If she did one squat with the bar it would instantly double the size of her ass.

Everybody talks about AI killing programming jobs, but any developer who has had to use it knows it can’t do anything complex in programming. What it’s really going to replace is program managers, customer reps, makes most of HR obsolete, finance analysts, legal teams, and middle management. This people have very structured, rule based day to days. Getting an AI to write a very customized queuing system in Rust to suit your very specific business needs is nearly impossible. Getting AI to summarize Jira boards, analyze candidates experience, highlight key points of meetings (and obsolete most of them altogether), and gather data on outstanding patents is more in its wheelhouse.

I am starting to see a major uptick in recruiters reaching out to me because companies are starting to realize it was a mistake to stop hiring Software Engineers in the hopes that AI would replace them, but now my skills are going to come at a premium just like everyone else in Software Engineering with skills beyond “put a react app together”

We are now X+14 months away from AI replacing your job in X months.

I’ve worked for several aerospace companies including Boeing. I have nothing but contempt and hatred for Boeing and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Management is garbage, safety comes second to schedule, people are treated like disposable cogs, but I would trust Boeing over NASA. I work with a lot of NASA and ex-NASA people right now on a couple major projects. Dear god NASA upper management makes me want to put my head through a wall! The insufferable sense of superiority trying to tell us “how things are done”. Bro, how is SLS coming? That’s what I thought, shut your mouth and stop pretending like you are the Apple of space systems. Luckily, most of the ground level people at NASA are more down to earth (pardon the puns) and easier to work with.

Heap memory specifically.

I remember being called racist on Reddit for pointing out that this seemed fake or he was making it up. The idea a bunch of Klan members riding around in trucks on Chicago’s south side at 3am to find Jesse Smollett randomly and put a noose around his neck but leave his subway sandwich in tact seemed like bad writing you would find on the CW

Not sure about Logitech, but most other companies where I need to download driver software it’s an absolute crapshoot. Search engines used to be good for implementing complex search on your site without need to spin up a custom search logic yourself.

We are 18 months into AI replacing me in 6 months. I mean… the CEO of OpenAI as well as many researchers have already said LLMs have mostly reached their limit. They are “generalizers” and if you ask them to do anything new they hallucinate quite frequently. Trying to get AI to replace developers when it hasn’t even replaced other menial office jobs is like saying “we taught AI to drive, it will replace all F1 drivers in 6 months”.

We agree on the overwhelming majority of important things (politics, cleanliness, nutrition, children) but obviously we have different tastes within those areas, I love cashews, she hates them, I prefer lifting weights, she prefers Pilates, etc… This is just the one weird thing we get hung up on.

In an advisory of its own, Cisco said the threat actors are compromising the devices after acquiring administrative credentials and that there’s no indication they are exploiting vulnerabilities.

If they aren’t exploiting vulnerabilities (and this is all because of mishandling of admin creds) then why are only Cisco routers being targeted?

I feel very comfortable sharing with her, especially since I grew up in an extremely conservative area of the south and she grew up in an upper class suburb in the Bay Area in California. She knows when I’m feeling “off” because it manifests in body language she picks up on and tries to get me to share (I.e. when I’m having work or family problems) but it’s been hard to break that “men don’t share their feelings” attitude I was raised with. She actually buys me clothing that is vibrant and traditionally female brands (lulu, Madewell, etc..). That’s why I was kind of taken aback when I first started wearing my thongs around her and she was like “are those women’s panties?” Because they were brightly colored pink pair of a male thong from MeUndies. I explained they are the comfortable for support when engaging in cardio and lifting and she was like, “I don’t like seeing you in them”.

In the same way I grew up in a very conservative area and this is a unique way to express myself and enjoy feeling sexy, I think she grew up in the opposite and that’s why she was attracted to stoic, lumbering me. She has jokingly called me a “brute” in a loving way and says she is fascinated how I just “power through” manual labor for 12 hours at a time on the weekend doing projects and lifting heavy stuff around our house. I think she just has a biological urge to see me as that big protector.

Also, she always talks about how she doesn’t like muscle on guys, but since we have been together I have put on a lot of muscle and the more I put on the more she is constantly squeezing my arms and shoulders and putting her head on my chest… but she has also noticed that other women will feel my arms in public and I think she gets a little jealous

As a dude who wears thongs while they are still taboo in America at least, I go through great effort to make sure they are not showing. Strong or thong it doesn’t matter. Pants are the normal culprit. Some thong/string brands tend to get looser and ride higher than others, but can always be fixed by pants that for proper.

This is the reason why for me, I actually took it one step further and rebuilt a front end news site with Django and shared the link out with friends who are interested in the same topics, added a discussion feature. Essentially, I have a python script that runs and pulls RSS feed data. If the whole article isn’t included then it uses Asyncio, aiohttp, and Beautifulsoup to pull in the article. Dump all that to a Postgres instance then have Django run on top of it. It’s like deconstructing news to reconstruct it

This is my main beef with men’s fashion. Men naturally stay hotter than women, but they get all the revealing clothing and thin fabrics. Maybe I need booty shorts and a crop top while mowing in 90 degree heat. Why is it always baggy basketball shorts and beefy t’s unless you want to do $80 at lulu lemon

MeUndies. They have tons of colors, great return policy if you don’t like them or they don’t fit, and they don’t fetishize it. I know what you are saying, when I first started looking they had a very obvious “target demographic” that I’m not a part of. I just wanted a solid, normal, comfortable man thong. Before that, jockey had great men’s thongs and some women’s thongs that definitely fit men and don’t look feminine. I’m hoping that Meundies starts to do more fabric types in men’s thongs, women get all the light and silky fabrics….

  1. Severely herniated disc - I screamed at an ER doc that wouldn’t give me an MRI (or at least a referral) and tried to send me home with prednisone and ibuprofen. I had herniated my disc before but not as bad so knew what was up and I had taken prednisone for it and it just makes it worse. Doctor’s are so quick to be like “this is drug seeking behavior“ and I’m like yep can you also give me an MRI so I can be one step closer to treatment. Eventually got spinal surgery and mostly feel better.
