Un Dorian Gray sin pasado, ni patria ni bandera.

I'm just a guy in the #pnw who likes going on adventures, and playing games with friends.

Three things I love: the Oxford Comma, irony, and missed opportunities.

#hiking #camping #ttrpg #pathfinder2e #pf2e #dnd #travel #knitting / #knitter #baking #games #pdx #privacy

Because our whole government operates as if this still the 1800s and the only thing holding us together is the Pony Express.

And then we block that instance! Or it gets defederated.

I feel like these people could read and understand the Satanic Temples tenets and still try to blow something up.

"Individual choice and personal freedoms all while relying on science and reason??? Not on my watch!"

Edit typo

"Apparently my husband Kevin has invited you all to my party. There's very little street parking. No gifts. No singing of Happy Birthday. It should be fun."

If you participate in insurrection, you are not allowed to hold any office in the United States… except the highest apparently.

"Don't worry, I am good at emotion."

Rafael 'Ted' Cruz is still on his crusade against preferred names. Unironically, it seems.

I hate the tipping culture, and wish it would go away. But I'll still do it for sit down service as that's part of the deal. The ones that really get me are for pickup as well as the fastish food services where you go to the counter to order, prepay, you pick it up from the counter and bus your own tables. What exactly am I tipping for?

And why do taxis need tips? Or hairdressers?

That was my thought when they said X identified as conservative, Y liberal, the rest moderate or unsure.

How about none of the above since they're all right of center?

I don't know what any of those terms mean, but I support you in this!

I named my cat Neko as a teen because of this program!

I'm practically full-time remote, though technically hybrid. But unlike the "x days at home, y days in the office" hybrid, we're wfh unless we have a reason to be in the office together for collaboration, which actually is helpful. So in reality, I go in a day or two every couple weeks or so. No complaints on my side.

Second Oregonian here, and also yup. We decriminalized but then decided not to require treatment (Portugal method), and then didn't fund treatment anyway.

Remember to never feed the trolls. Block them and move on.

Well, this thread has strengthened my desire to adopt a teen from foster care. I technically have/had a family but they were more like roommates than parents. Left at 18 and never looked back. Had my share of lonely holidays that I would dread when they came around. I'm not trying to say I've had the same story as those here, but I get some parts of it really well. I'm finally at a place where maybe I can prevent that from happening to someone else.

With so many things in this country, the origins are racism. While tipping originated in Europe, it became popular in the States post-slavery as a way to not have to actually pay black people. Haven't shaken it yet.

And annoyingly, the ones who often push the hardest to keep tipping culture are the servers themselves as they can take home a lot of money on a busy weekend evening. Hopefully, we're getting closer to getting rid of it though.

Except "woman, man, person, TV, camera" isn't in the Bible, so he was all out of space to learn anything else.

We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!

Firefish and Mastodon are both microblogging platforms (like Twitter) on the fediverse. Kbin and Lemmy are both forum style platforms (like Reddit).

Where Lemmy and Mastodon are for people who prefer a more basic just the necessities experience, kbin and Firefish provide a more stylish experience with more options and customization.

But the the rich people's yacht money economy is doing well!

If you want to dip your toes, go with something easy. Pop_os or Linux Mint are the two most often suggested. Lesser offered but with a Mac OS feel is Elementary.

Pop_os is a good choice. It's a solid distro and a good introduction to Linux. You can distro hop later, start with something easy for now. I installed it as a dual boot in case I needed Windows for something, but this is the first distro I haven't felt the need to switch back.

It depends on your bowel movements and how much fiber you eat. I still have to wipe a little after the water, but far less than without. Others, drying is enough.

After using one for a while now, it seems so uncivilized not using one now.

That's why I loved StumbleUpon when it first came out. I discovered so many cool niche things that way.

For keyboard I'm currently using OpenBoard and ThumbKey, the latter obviously not for everyone.

Adding to your list:

  • Droidify
  • Trail Sense
  • NewPipe
  • Logseq
  • Syncthing
  • Coffee
  • Element
  • Cryptomator
  • VLC
  • Geometric Weather
  • Termux
  • Noteless
  • StreetComplete
  • Translate You

I'm late, but I have Obsidian set up with Syncthing and it works flawlessly. I adore Syncthing and would be lost without it!

Depending on your note taking needs, if Obsidian is too much, you could do the same with Notable/Noteless and Syncthing.

I once heard it described that if Democrats found a magic lamp and got three wishes, they'd negotiate it down to one, and wish for something they think the Republicans would want.

I honestly think that has to do with the fact that everyone on the fediverse has the ability to immediately block bad actors and never see them again. If there's enough brigading happening, that server can be defederated. Those same toxic people exist here, they're just shunted to their own inaccessible islands.

That's in the same vein as "it's not the crime it's the cover-up"

I think your answer also explains why they're so angry about white people no longer being the majority. They're scared they'll be treated how they've been treating everyone else.

I vaguely remember it being put on hold for some alignment with European privacy laws or something along those lines.

Welcome! Don't be surprised if you feel the need to try out all the distros!

Don't listen to the naysayers. The vast majority of us are appreciative of what you're doing here, and thankful for the work you've done so far. 600+ donations to back that up! We're happy to help contribute specifically because we're not the product.

But that might hurt the feelings of the sacred demographic: old white men!

I'm not surprised they struck it down, but I guess the jaded side of me is surprised they allowed him a different avenue to do the relief instead of making the whole concept illegal.

Also, there was talk from the Republicans about try to force everyone to pay back the interest we would have been paying this entire time. Somewhat surprised they didn't agree to that as well.

Oh that's right she did! I've seen clips of Brennan before and have always wanted to watch, but never wanted another subscribtion... this might make me change my mind.

Didn't you read the article? The only pro is if you're an oil company!

I agree with you though, things have been so much nicer this way. And since no more than 50% can be aelf-serve there are still full service pumps for those who need/want them.

It feels this way with every shitty thing we find out about in the last however many years. And the answer always seems to be vote harder!!1!

I've been using Proton since it first came out and have had no problems with it. I have a paid account because it's worth it to me to not be the product. And for about $5/mo I get encrypted email, calendar, vpn, drive, and password manager (though I primarily only use the first three).

They have a free version that lets you try it out, though with limited features.

Why hasn't anyone brought back an e-ink watch? Best watch ever.
