It's a UNIX system. I know this!

I'm speeding, I kill people for the government, and my engine has hemispherical combustion chambers!

I use inkscape for vector graphics editing. It's free and open source, and runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows.

Lemmy gives me the same feeling that Reddit did when I first discovered it in 2011. Back before they cared about being profitable and sustainable, when it was a growing community. I don't know if Lemmy is sustainable or not, but I like the way it feels to be a part of this.

Sync really makes it feel like a seamless transition though. Jerboa is good, but Sync is what I'm used to.

We started shopping AliExpress instead of Amazon. At least you don't pay the high Amazon prices and are pleasantly surprised when something of decent quality arrives. Got the kids some flying spacemen drones. $1.99 each. They've been playing with them all day long. No complaints. AliExpress even refunded me on a few things that arrived broken, without having to return anything.

Because you can compress video without reducing the resolution, codec, or frame rate. When a camera records two green pixels: it records (green pixel) (green pixel). When the video is compressed, it changes to (two green pixels) which takes up less storage space but retains the same information. Compression is computationally expensive, which is why cameras typically don't do it on the fly.

It needs to happen in order to increase profits.

My son has a stuffed animal in his bedroom worth about $5,000

He won a sweepstakes prize while we were collecting squishmallow cards. I built him a plexiglass cube to display it, but if not for the display, it's a very unassuming stuffed animal.

The water is slowly draining into an airtight cavity underground and replacing air in the cavity, which is bubbling up through the same hole. The cavity is probably why you have a puddle there to begin with, the ground is depressed into the cavity. It could end up forming a small sinkhole. Excavation recommended.

Would you consider contributing to OpenStreetMap?

That pickup truck was asking for it I tell ya. He was looking at me sideways, he was.

This wouldnwork better on smaller scale, less traveled rural routes. Maintaining a whole ass train for a few dozen people is overkill. I kinda like this.

I got rid of hundreds of pounds of old batteries at my community electronics recycling event this year. See if your community has one.

I am a collector, and inventory management is always the thing that makes or breaks an RPG for me. Unlimited inventory is just completely unrealistic, but on the other hand, making an RPG inventory completely realistic is just no fun. Of course I want to be able to lug all that sweet loot home, including battle axes, broadswords, several full armor sets, myriad other weapons, potions, etc. Having an encumbrance such as Skyrim has makes total sense to me. I love the idea of being able to sort and filter my inventory, and store items in whatever container I own. I also like to be able to compare the stats of new items with ones I own so I know if something is a trade up.

I hate storage block inventories, where items physically take up one, or a few "squares". I don't want to play a tile puzzle with my items.

Out of curiosity, when did "the homeless" become "unhoused people"? I'm just beginning to notice this shift in language. Has the word homeless become derogatory?

Without headlines, no investors. Without investors, no equipment. Without equipment, no product. Headlines like these drive investment.

Get to it! Such a fun hobby

This has been happening since AOL.

I have a Canon Color LaserJet scanner/copier/printer for documents, and a large format Canon inkjet photo printer. Aftermarket toner, aftermarket ink, and they work flawlessly. I did a ton of research for both. I would never buy an HP printer.

It already looks really bad

I have my own business and buy my health insurance from the marketplace. Yes it's expensive, but at a job that's just part of your salary you never see.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'm often suspicious of new euphemisms that make people feel like a problem is less of a problem than it really is. I'm all for more accurate language.

Exactly. This is only about finding the most effective way to suck the most amount of money from the gaming market.

Happy Mother's Day

Social animals like us invent ethics. It all comes down to what most people find appalling vs what most people find acceptable. A lot of that comes down to empathy. How would you feel if it was done to you?
