Heard about this on the radio yesterday, and looked into it further as we hear about “cancer curing pills” all the time and they usually are nothing. This one does seem to have traction however IF it can make it through human trials. Lemmy isn’t Reddit, but it definitely itches that scratch for me. Like fuck if I ever give Reddit any traffic myself anymore. Bridge burned, I have no problem walking away.

So what if someone doesn’t want to kill minorities but wants to buy guns and wants limited government involvement in the economy?

I already do, I live on a back road that sees maybe 20 cars a day. I have a beautiful view. I’m an hour away from a large town with everything in it, so I’m close enough to any of that when I want it, yet I’m far enough that my cost of living is low. The town with a school, grocery store, hardware store, bars, clinic, etc is less than 10 minutes. 4 bigger towns with more jobs and more store options are 30-35 minutes with hospitals as well.

I can walk out of my house and be in nature almost instantly. I don’t have to drive anywhere.

Yeah I can’t call and have food delivered and I can’t walk to any shops but I consider myself in the perfect balance of remote and having access to what I want/need. Unless I go to a nursing home, my only move from my current house will be from it to six feet under.

It’s not so much that I think my content was such a great and big addition to the site on why I want to delete. In fact, it’s not that at all.

I just like the idea of Reddit being riddled with posts with comment threads that don’t offer much as a whole as most stuff has been removed. I’m just trying to do my part, and if it makes a few people aware of Lemmy, all the better.

I think no one expected Reddit to just fold in a month, if that was their terms for “winning” then… congratulations?

For a social media giant such as Reddit, it takes years to come down, just like it took years to get where it was. However, the seeds are sown, and for every decision that only benefits their pockets and not the user, they creep closer to that reality of their own demise.

And on the flip side a CEO can improve and expand many people’s careers and therefore wealth.

A dictatorship like Mao Zedong, Mussolini, Hitler, etc can flow all the wealth and power to themselves, oppressing the people under them.

The point it: You can’t talk about best case scenario of one and not the other. Usually, as it’s human nature, both are going to sequester wealth and power for themselves over the people under them, but a bad dictatorship is leagues worse than a bad company/CEO.

Also another note: as an old Apollo user I love the Memmy app for Lemmy. Very similar. Just a heads up for anyone in the same boat not aware of Memmy.

The point is you’re talking in extremes. And I will agree extreme liberals are better than extreme conservatives, the world isn’t that black and white, especially when you talk about voting for anyone besides President.

It’s not even that black and white, because the term democrat and republican as far as political views mean much different things when it comes to different ages, backgrounds, area, etc.

For example, I tend to lean right when it comes to economics, however I do support things like public healthcare. Also, I lean pretty far left on social issues.

There are people all over the spectrum on all sorts of issues. I can see where it bothers people to be labeled one or the other because that’s not really who they are. I truly try to break candidates down by what their stances are and pick who most aligns with what I believe. I can honestly say every ballot I’ve ever cast I’ve voted for both Democrats and Republicans.

The only people I have a problem with is people that try to tell me I’m stupid because i didn’t vote all one way or the other.
