OPEC cartel succeeding in doing what cartels do

Feature wise most mobile OS's are pretty mature so it's only natural to see less "improvements" compared to the early days.

Use your favourite Lemmy client for example, the first month of development every release brought a bunch of new features and improvements but these days the releases are all pretty small.

Next up, Reddit renames to Y

I’ve been using Fedora and haven’t encountered any of the issues you mentioned. To me it’s always been rock solid.

TLDW?

Not so much downloading games but offloading the processing to powerful servers in the cloud so you can play games that your phone typically can't handle.

Have you tried going to Settings -> Display -> Screen Mode and change it to Natural?

Apps talk to services via an API. Lemmy has an API, the one for kbin is still being figured out and isn’t enabled.

This is the only reason why kbin doesn’t have apps for it yet.

Wefwef offers an almost identical experience to Apollo and is a webapp so you don’t need to mess with TestFlight and also works on Android.

The difference between the Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be huge in both performance and efficiency.

For the price difference I'd wait for a deal and go for the S23 if it was me.

Top notch camera, top specs, best software support. It’s usually my first choice when I look for an android phone.

A lot of the issues you listed are bad for people that want to mod their phones but they are pros for anyone that wants a secure phone. As I get older, I just want a phone that works that is actively supported and patched from security vulnerabilities.

Bullet points to read it in seconds ftw

Apparently some people don't react to bed bug bites so there's no itching at all

Just use https://app.strem.io/#/ add to Home Screen. You’ll need to download VLC to be able to play streams.

I don’t think it’s just a Firefox problem. I have the same issue in Safari since the 0.18 update.

Maybe try using https://wefwef.app to connect to your lemmy instance.

Someone should create a community on Lemmy to coordinate

If we look at some critical CVEs(eg. https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2022-20222) in the past, they are mostly in system libraries.

I don’t think they are things that can be fixed on the app level?

Quite a number of critical CVEs that result in remote code execution fixed in this months patch.

I'm not the dev. @gkd@lemmy.world deserves all the credit. He's amazing.

Same in NZ. We have a high minimum wage and already pay pretty high prices for everything.

Some Eftpos/Credit card terminals will even ask if you want to tip when you make a payment. Such an awkward moment pressing “No” right in front of the person serving you.

I’m not the dev but I think that’s the intention based on the readme on GitHub.

It’s written in Expo/React Native which means it’ll be easier to support both iOS and Android.

Haven’t seen it mentioned but the vinegar safari extension for iOS removes ads, allows PiP, and playing in the background.

the security team found out that only 93 Authy users out of 75 million were affected

Also this was a social engineering attack and if you’re syncing your 2fa seeds then you should be encrypting them with a secret. Cracking that should take years if not more.

The dev is super active and pushing out fixes and features daily.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will mean not very good battery life

2 years of updates means you’ll quickly end up with a phone that’s waiting to be hacked

Reddit exodus firing the Fediverse to the moon

@gkd@lemmy.world the lead dev is browsing this post so I’m sure he’s seeing everyone’s feedback.

I so want to see this happen but I feel like there will be so many rules and padding that it’ll end up being a borefest.

Cage match, anything goes! It’ll bring in huge audiences.

In your proposal, who would run these hub servers?

Awesome!

For r/soccer there’s !soccer@lemmy.ml although I’m hoping !football@lemmy.ml takes off instead.

It doesn’t look like there’s enough sports related content so something like !sports@beehaw.org might have more engagement.

If you enable location history, google maps will do this

Edit: I am releasing Boost for Lemmy, you can pre-register to get notified when it is available. In the meantime you can create an account and join https://lemmy.world/c/boostforlemmy
