US Senate Democrats block Republican bid to aid Israel, not Ukraine

U.S. Senate Democrats on Tuesday blocked a Republican effort to win quick approval for a bill providing emergency aid to Israel that passed the House of Representatives last week, but that provides no assistance for Ukraine's war against Russia. "Our allies in Ukraine can no more afford a delay than our allies in Israel," said Senator Patty Murray, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee.
To become law, legislation must pass the Democratic-controlled Senate as well as the Republican-majority House, and be signed into law by Biden, a Democrat. The White House had said Biden would veto the House bill.

The comment you're replying to doesn't state that Israel has had to do anything, but that their actions have been very predictable. Were you surprised by how they've responded?
Yes. I was specifically replying to the statement that the Israeli response was always going to look like this, which I disagree with.
The specific method I disagree with is the use of very heavy firepower to completely remove combat positions from the battlefield in areas of high civilian population. This is only appropriate in areas with fewer human shields.
How many civilian casualties would you find acceptable per Hamas fighter?
I wish I could answer that without feeling bad about myself. I just don't know though.
It would always be a lot, the area is just too dense.
They weren't saying Israel had to respond that way, just that they would. It's not a justification of Israel, but a condemnation of how predictably barbaric they are when it comes to Palestinians. Quit trying to argue with people who agree with your position.
This is predictable, partial recollection of history. They have not always been barbaric towards the Palestinians.
Just when the nutjobs are in charge, so, for sure for the past decade+.
I don't appreciate you putting words in my mouth.
The nutjobs are in power now. Their response was entirely predictable.
Alright, that's fair.
