How in the world is Ashley Madison still a thing?? I thought it was toast ten years ago:

Ashley Madison has long been a target for extortionists and moral crusaders, with the site suffering a massive data breach back in 2015 after getting hacked. The anonymous hackers demanded the site be taken down or they’d release detailed information about users. After about a month, the hackers made good on their threat, releasing roughly 10 gigabytes of information on the site’s 37 million users. That led to high-profile consequences, including everything from the resignation of a state attorney in Florida to the suicide of a pastor in New Orleans.

Wow-- My thoughts exactly. I assumed after that, nobody would go anywhere near them with their disaster-waiting-to-happen affairs. But then I remember how I used to assume that nobody would be careless enough to make their password "12345678" and it makes more sense.

Add in the fact that the horny debuff gives people like a -30 to IQ, and it really starts to come into focus.

And of course there's still a huge r/adultery reddit where people post advice all about how to have successful affairs or hook up with married people and congratulate each other, while using their identifiable main accounts. It's really a wild hubris to try to get away with cheating while going online and posting about it in public forums or making a dating profile on a Cheater's site. From someone that doesn't understand that desire I found it gave me some perspective reading through lots of posts; why people cheat or want to, many people regretted it after acting out the fantasy or couldn't go through with it, and from some that were "serial cheaters" that loved doing it and wanted to keep going. Worth browsing if anyone feels curious.

If you're desperate for sex and you don't want to pay for it or do it with your spouse, I'm guessing that you don't have too many other avenues open to you unless you have a discreet friend at work...

Didn't that data breach also uncover that the site is 99% men, with the remainder being bot accounts or scams?
