Ok so I know Jerboa has it's fans, and I'm sure I'm going to get downvoted for this. But.
In my opinion, Jerboa has the worst interface of all of the lemmy apps that are out, and should not be promoted to new users.
I said it. Bring on the downvotes. It hurts because in your hearts you also know it is true.
I don't know that it's true because I've never seen what the other apps look like!
I was also a Baconreader user so I'm used to not having a fancy UI
I've used Jerboa and Liftoff and Jerboa is much better. What do you use? What specific things make it better?
I was using Connect, and am now using Sync.
To be honest, I don't remember the specifics of Jerboa. I remember it feeling very utilitarian though. Not terrible for some people, I understand that. It just felt like it was designed by programmers, if that makes sense.
I prefer a more white-space centric design. Cards, material design, with gesture based controls. Connect actually does that well, but I think Sync might be coded better differently, because it feels a lot more smooth. No jankiness. It doesn't feel like a web app.
I kinda threw a lot of concepts out there, hopefully some of that made sense haha.
Also, I don't mean to say that people who like Jerboa are somehow wrong - you like what you like and I'm glad you have something that you like :D.
Just tried Connect and Liftoff and both were bad compared to Jerboa. On one I couldn't even figure out how to down vote. I think I'll wait a few more months and try out the competition again.
