If that were true, then the parties wouldn't be so upset about third parties. The fact that they work so hard to keep third parties off the ballot, proves that the duopoly is definitely afraid of them.
Of course people are afraid of them. They have the power to tip the election to the other side, as you well know with 2000 being a rather famous example. A lot of people are afraid of Trump. You're just not one of them, as you've said several times.
