On Sunday, 27 October, an extensive police raid was conducted in Troitsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, during which approximately 20 Romani people were "preventively" detained. Video footage taken by eyewitnesses who are local residents shows police officers leading a group of Romani people into a large police van.

What really baffles me about some self-described leftists is how can anyone look at the shit Russians do on a daily basis and go "yes, this country seems nice and progressive and very anti-imperialist."

Tankies don't actually care deep down about ideas like anti-imperialism or progressivism; they want control. That, or they're brainwashed enough to jump through layers upon layers of doublethink to reach the conclusion that an oligarchical, bigoted, and repressive oil state constantly and brutally invading its peaceful, democratic neighbors is secretly anti-imperialist and progressive but that this somehow gets tainted through the lens of muh westoid propaganda.

Ancoms fucking hate Russia. Democratic socialists fucking hate Russia. Everyone in their right mind fucking hates Russia.

Yeah the democratic socialist party here in Finland that I vote for (The Left Alliance) has had some of the most vocal opponents of Russia for years now, even before Russia's invasion of Crimea way back when. Funnily (?) enough the right wing extremists currently in government say leftists are pro-Russian like they think it's a bad thing, while at the same time being explicitly pro-Russian – some going as far as visiting "Hitler youth camps" organized by Russia some years ago and claiming they were doing super secret spy stuff when questioned about it earlier this year.

Russia today is far-right by about every conceivable metric, so it makes sense.

Oh yes it makes absolute sense, I just find it hilarious that reich-wingers will say "woke leftist commies are pro-Russia" like they think it's a bad thing while simultaneously idolizing Russia and Putin. I'd hate to drag 1984 into this, but it's just such a classic example of doublethink that it'd be amazing to behold if these fucks weren't in power

They look at any country that says "west bad, strong communist government good" and blindly give their support. They conveniently ignore that neither Russia nor China are communist in reality.
