How to get xdotool to send simultaneous keypresses at precisely the same time?
I'm playing tekken on pc, and my keyboard unfortunately has a limit to how many keys can be pressed. So I'm trying to fix this by using xbindkeys and xdotool to map the combinations to a key press. This works unless the combination calls for pressing more than one key at a time, and I think this is because there is a very slight delay between consecutive keydowns.
For example, in 'keydown i keydown j' I will be pressed before j. Is there a way to let xdotool know that I want these to be pressed at the same time?
Try:
xdotool keydown --delay 0ms i+j
Multiple keypresses can be chained with plus signs. (If you actually need the plus key, use the word "plus". Likewise, "alt", "ctrl" for those keys etc.)
The keys are still pressed in the order specified, but the
--delay
option changes the time between them. The manual page says the default is 12ms.If 0 doesn't work, try 1, etc. I only tested in a Terminal and a delay of 0 was fine there, but other software may differ.
That works perfectly! Tysm. Now I can roll down memory lane and enjoy tekken 3 properly haha.
I have informed Namco.
It's for offline play😉
After some reading it seems binds are tournament legal, only macros are banned.
xdotool key i+j
