Didn't*, under Bolsonaro who has been banned from office until 2030. The current guy is much better, and some albeit minimal strides have been made towards protecting the forests, and otherwise remedying Bolsonaros insanities.
Who exactly are you talking about when you say Brazil? There's a lot of people here that really don't care at all, but there's also people working to preserve the forest for a variety of reasons at different levels.
