I am with you, but I am also of the opinion that these petitions fall upon deaf ears.

Fossil fuel industry lobbyists will work hard to cling on to power and profits. But we can counter them with a huge show of people power.

A piece of paper with 10k names is just a piece of paper, and it's surprisingly easy to ignore 10,000 people when there's no physicality attached to them.

When I see, and feel immediately support, for these I remind myself that I’m a relatively well off tech guy that works remote. My largest use of fuel for travel is for vacation / fun and cost of food and heat and etc is of course a large line item but I really could deal with a large increase. I’m very fortunate.

But what happens to everybody else when this happens. How do we make this form of transition without seriously impacting a LOT of people. And yes, I intellectually know that impact will happen from climate change. But people direct anger at people for individual policies and not, as much, because there was a big storm, or a doubt, or other “natural” event.

So how can these aggressive ideas really get going unless paired with serious societal changes like UBI and/or (big) subsidies for EVs and/or mandated charging stations and/or… ?
