I am split on this.
I'd like to donate on Lemmy's development.
On the other hand, both developers are not exactly the kind of people I'd like to support.

Thus I am still deciding whether to donate or not.

You could support your local instance.

I can't as they use PayPal without allowing guest payments.
So it goes to lemmy.dbzer0.com. db0 also has a Ko-Fi page which doesn't require signing up for anything.

With SDF it's a bit unfortunate as I not only use their Lemmy instance, but also public UNIX shell.

You could contact them, see if they'd be willing to enable guest PayPal access. Or something not PayPal. Trash company.

:::spoiler nothing Based on the forums, they used to have more payment options which depended on the sellers.
But at some point Discogs signed some PayPal-only contract and now nothing else is allowed.

Which is also what's probably killing it now. I've heard there's some extra fees for the sellers, and one thing just struck me. I've seen seller on their forum asking for help if there's a way they could get a refund for processing fees after the buyer cancelled a larger order. The answer was: Nope, non-refundable.
So what happened is the buyer got full refund, and seller was forced to pay processing fees which in this case were "in the 3 figures, so not insignificant".

Lastly:

If you encounter a problem with sending payment, please do not send payment off Discogs. This is considered fee avoidance and is a violation of our Buyer Policy. :::

Edit: I thought this was a reply on different comment. Sorry. Forget it.

May I ask whats wrong with the 2 figure heads? Also those donos do go into getting the first real full time developer on board!

They are mods of lemmy.ml. I also heard they made lemmygrad.ml which was based on it resolving to same IP (doesn't seem to be the fact anymore), but this wasn't confirmed nor denied by them.
This is a bit older discussion of them removing what they consider anti-china and anti-russian comments: https://lemmy.world/post/24798?scrollToComments=true

Oh, yeah, one pretty obvious thing is right here: https://lemmy.ml/signup

They're tankies who ban people who say negative things about China. They believe anime is for pedophiles and have banned a bunch of people from anime communities and defederated from ani.social. They've banned the admin of programming.dev from the Lemmy github page after they opened bug fix requests.
