Hi! I'm British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.

Also a touch of programming :)

also on /u/Madbrad200@lemmy.world

I got engaged and travelled across the Atlantic to be with someone I met on irc

I had a convo with gale at the celebration post goblin camp and he was all about inviting me to see some magic trick and I was like cool, sure why not

then I speak to asterion and he's like "so your'e gonna fuck gale huh? Good on ya man"

I was like, what?

the romance in this game is definitely forced and overly aggressive

Just FYI, you can sync up subscriptions far easier using tools like LASIM

E3 really was a massive moment. Shame we won't really have stuff like this again. I miss the yearly cringe.

That's correct. No you wouldn't.

Not quite. This isn't an uncommon thing and appears in the log under the name "Anti-Evil Operations" (yes, really). In this case, it appears the admin probably didn't activate their admin status properly or something.

It isn't that they want to hide the action, it's just not meant to appear under a personal username.

lemmy.world is bugged right now. What I did is backed up my account subscriptions/settings and imported it over to sh.itjust.works. You may need to try a few times (it'll tell you when it's successful).

You're going to need to give more information than this zero context screenshot. Is this a virus scanner? If so, which? Why are you scanning? What caused this series of events? What's the full content of this popup?

Absolute worse case scenario: whatever you're doing will not irreparably damage your PC. If you break windows or whatever you can just wipe your pc and reinstall windows via a usb stick. However, it's not clear what's going on here.

I'm cautious about this game. It's been redeveloped like 3 times into completely different genres, pretty much nothing has been shown about it, and Bioware is nothing like it was years back.

People who use WhatsApp but have friends who want to use signal and vice versa.

Your average person really does not care about this stuff, they just want something easy and familiar. This is good for people who care enough to use signal but still want to actually chat to people.

You're on Lemmy.ml, so this does not affect you directly, although it will mean no users from lemmy.world will access those communities, which inturn will mean they have less activity than they otherwise would have.

Hosting a Minecraft server is an immensely easier task than implementing a livestream service, lol

Even with a 7000x3d, GPU performance is pretty rough across the board https://youtu.be/vTNiZhEqaKk?t=2m46s

Ok, but it was planned as one. I'm very wary of this project, to be honest. Seems like they developed one thing, changed it, then went back to the original vision - not a good sign for a cohesive, stable project.

American internet prices are wild.

lemmy.world hasn't defedered from lemmy.dbzer0.com entirely, they've just blocked the piracy community.

Also even reccomended torrent search engine websites suck and only crawls through some websites is there any you would rec

Stop using these sources and learn how to use qBittorrent with Jackett. You can search hundreds of trackers all ata once in seconds. You won't miss anything unless it's literally just not available anywhere.

https://github.com/qbittorrent/search-plugins/wiki/How-to-configure-Jackett-plugin

This is not entirely correct. lemmy.world hasn't defederated from dbzer0, but it has blocked it's largest piracy community.

Disable karmic dice and save scum before you roll.

Just released an announcement, see the pic in the post.

I subscribe to mostly Lemmy.world instances,

you subscribe to communities on the lemmy.world instance. Ultimately, lemmy.world doesn't exist without the efforts of the developers behind Lemmy, so that's definitely more important imo.

As a user of lemmy.ca, this won't affect you directly.

ZLibrary never went down fully. There were always ways to access it.

Baldur's Gate story is great, yes.

Dragon Age (fantasy magick adventure) and Mass Effect (space opera) are also great.

Thanks for pointing this out! You're right...

Because it doesn't have millions of users in the EU and near a billion in revenue

They made a announcement here on Lemmy https://lemmy.world/post/3234363

The original was posted on discord. It was:

Removal of Piracy Communities

Earlier today, after review, we blocked and removed several communities that were providing assistance to access copyrighted/pirated material, which is currently not allowed per Rule #1 of our Code of Conduct.

The communities that were removed due to this decision were: !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com, !piracy@lemmy.ml, !steamdeckpirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com.

We took this action to protect lemmy.world, lemmy.world's users, and lemmy.world staff as the material posted in those communities could be problematic for us, because of potential legal issues around copyrighted material and services that provide access to or assitance in obtaining it.

Op isn't on lemmy.world

https://phtn.app/

A DNS blocker like pihole, nextdns, adguard etc might help with that.

Could simply be a case of protecting their largest assets incase someone big really did try to replace reddit.

Honestly not sure about this. Seems a bit uninspired

Interesting. Any idea why this is happening to SmokeAPI but not cream?

I feel like it has more to do with the technological advances than being more prone to conflict

Only technically true. The two don't work super well together, Mastodon is a better frontend if you're looking for a microbloggingn experience.

The more on Lemmy the better, across the board. But convincing them to actually do so seems unlikely unfortunately.

Fair. Personally I'm just sh.itjust.works as my alt instance.
