This is great.

Does anyone know something similar but this time for my navidrome online music ?

Thank you. I'll have a look

For anyone interested in a quick look, this is what they found.

Awesome

Create content and participate to make Lemmy more attractive.

This is a freaking great guide. I wish I had this wonderful resource when I started selfhosting. Thanks for this.

People might also want to have a look at pihole as an alternative to adguard for add blocking. It is awesome.

I prefer homepage over heimdall. It is more configurable, but less noob friendly.

Jellyseer is a fork of overseer that integrates very well with jellyfin. Reiveer is promising for discovering and adding content.

Fuck me. I switched to owncloud yesterday because I can't stand nextcloud anymore.

Owncloud feels lighter, faster, and just works.

Whhhhhhyyyyyy ?

I do whatever the fuck I want, unless it is unpolite or could hurt somebody's freedom.

I learnt that, as I don't give a shit about what people are doing, they must also don't give a shit either. People just care about themselves most of the time. The day I realized that, I had a strong freedom feeling.

Having kids multiplied this attitude by 1000 and actually, I see people smiling and interacting with us while we're fooling around.

GO PLAY WITH FUCKING PUDDLES WEARING PINK PANTIES ON YOUR HEAD MY DUDE ! I might join you.

Open-source and unmoderated are 2 very different things.

Lemmy is open source so you got this already.

As for an instance without an admin, there can't be such a thing. An instance has to be hosted on some server and this server belongs to somebody that has to maintain it.

A community without a mod doesn't exist, as a community has to be founded by someone to exist.

Now, do you really want a community without an active mod ? Well if you want spam, bots and shitty content, sure.

If your problem is power tripping mods, just leave the communities with such mods.

Or you can run your own Lemmy instance and see how it goes.

Jeez, why can't we have nice things ?!

What are the alternatives ? I'll be searching.

If you guys find something, please, report back.

Edit: For gallery, this looks promising: https://f-droid.org/packages/deckers.thibault.aves.libre/

The one and only up to date dialer app I could find. Updated 50 minutes ago at the time of posting this: https://github.com/oxcened/opendialer

I'm a sound engineer and I had awful neighbors. So I tried that to calm the monster of a kid my upstairs neighbors failed to raise.

I tried every pure frequencies from 12 000 kHz to 20 000 kHz with 1000 Hz steps at absurdly loud volumes.

The problem here was the air in our different apartments acting as an isolant, the material between our apartments, and the fact that this kid and his parents where deaf fucking morons.

In the end, the proper solution was to move. That worked as intended as I don't hear them anymore.

Come on, give it some time. It's coming a long way, and devs are working their ass off to deliver some quality updates.

Also, there are a dozen apps in the works for iOS and Android that are to be released soon, if that's not already the case. So you should have more choice to pick a better experience browsing lemmy in the coming days.

Absurd. None of these communities are even hosted on lemmy.world.

lemmy.world has more downtime than France's administration anyway,. so at least we can still sail the high seas while they're down.

8 more...

Lemmy.ml just preemptively did it. I think lemmy.world also did it earlier but you'll have to double check that.

Libreddit is great !

There is also Teddit that you can easily selfhost too and import your followed subs to. Example using docker

80% of subventions are going to 20% of the biggest "farmers" in Europe. Big distribution buys at very low prices and sell at very high prices. Small farmers don't earn enough to decently live and kill themselves. Government do nothing because €€ Big Agro-food companies and lobbies are killing for profit.

Support local production and direct distribution !

This is oversimplified and badly written but it sums up the situation.

Unfortunately, I erased all my content on Reddit, but I asked this same question a year back on /r/selfhosted. It was hugely upvoted, revealing that I wasn't alone wondering why.

Tldr: the community is toxic to newcomers and people learning. There is a veteran circlejerk only feeding on very advanced discussions and novelties. There is very little room for curious, anthousiasts and people stuck in the anomalous state of knowledge. I wrote a post precisely about this a few days ago.

Anyway, I find this community, and Lemmy in general, a lot more friendly and rewarding to be a part of. I really hope it will stay this way.

Longue vie à YggTorrent !! ♥️

It's not the cult, it's the interpretation some maniacs make of it.

Remember how Christians "pacified" entire populations here and there in Africa and the whole american continent. Doesn't look good either 😏

I've tried lot of selfhosted note taking apps. A lot.

While Trillium is polished and efficient, I find that the PWA makes the UI hard to navigate and read. It deserves a real app, optimized for smaller screens.

I haven't really used obisidian as it is a bit overkill for my use case anyway. So not using trillium wasn't such a loss.

I ended up using bookstack for my knowledge base, and flatnotes for everyday note taking.

As a small business owner that has to turn into a content creator 🤢, I need this.

I hate that proprietary software has credentials for all my social media.

It just lacks twitter.

And I don't know why this kind of software never offered posting to pixelfed, Lemmy or mastodon...

I'll have to have a look into this, it looks promising :)

Fuck yeah. I'm a grown ass man, and I feel like a child at Christmas Eve.

Nextcloud pleases A LOT 10% of it's users. Those 10% are composed by tech savvy people, coders and developpers that spent countless hours tinkering with their instance.

I'm one of the 90% left. Despite really wanting to use nextcloud and trying to set it up correctly for 2 years, I finally gave up and I feel much happier in my life, in my work, with my family and friends, and they thank me for that.

Now I just recommend Owncloud or seafile. They're both really easy to install and just work out of the box.

Out of habit and convenience, I keep a nextcloud running on oracle free tier just for what it's good at: caldav and contacts.

I feel really bad for these people. I really hope they'll quickly find a good opportunity to leave.

Reddit taught me this. It's great to cope with frustration while not engaging in a sterile argument.

Because only lemmy.ml was popular 2 years ago.

Instead of thinking about what we could do on reddit, think about what we're going to do on Lemmy.

I have prowlarr linked to my sonarr and radarr, and I use nzb360 on my phone. When away from home, I'm using a VPN tunnel to my network so I basically download a movie or series a minute after somebody recommended it.

You should also try overseerr or the cool new Reiverr.

Do you mean web.archive.org ?

Everything is archived some place or another anyway.

The point of erasing your content on Reddit is to lower the value of the site and be a pain in their ass.

People shouldn't erase their account. Not ever. Not until you are sure they won't keep restoring your content. Keep erasing your restored content, take screenshots beforegand, and report them under GDPR / Cali law. When they'll be forced to comply, then we can erase our account.

YouTube is making millions off the back of creators. They're not helping them apart from giving them some level of visibility in the unfair jungle that the algorithm is.

A form a subscription to your favorite creator on a platform like LBRY, Odyssey Odysee, Peertube goes directly to the creators without feeding the awful beast that google already is.

The problem is visibility. YouTube owns the monopoly of popular videos, and if we want alternatives to work, we need to support independent creators by tipping them, spreading the word and boycotting google.

That's how we'll see good content, without ads.

When I vaporize, the smell doesn't last very long. Not sure what kind of weed or vaporizer you use though.

I've never tried it, but I heard good things about Smoke Buddy

I'm using Partisan SMS, which is also a fork of QKSMS, that manages encryption, which is a great plus. Unfortunately, it is not actively maintained and I fear it might get obsolète soon.

That's really awesome seeing people forking this incredible app :)

I love seeing awesome open source softwares continue to live after being bought or shutdown :D

But forgive my ignorance: why forking Mihon and not just use it as is ?

We want new users, but not any random users at any costs.

I'd rather see the community growing slowly but organically than adding a bunch of random people with a toxic Instagram logic.

We don't have to be 10s of millions to enjoy it here either.

Like others, I use searxng.

But you can also try whoogle and librex

I mean yes, but you know... sync...

I'm in western Europe, where hash or herb is always mixed with tobacco. Yeah yeah I know, boooo. But hey, that's a cultural thing with several origins.

I wanted to quit that 25 yo habit last year and managed to totally get rid of tobacco thanks to dry herb vaporizers. Convection and conduction, session or on demand, I can now choose different ways for different moods.

One thing's sure, the taste and the high are waaaaaaay more pleasing.

I was at a wedding last weekend and everybody (most of my smoking buddies) was smoking joints. At one point, I was curious to see how it felt like again. It was atrocious, disgusting, awful. I even tried a pure joint and the taste of combustion is just not for me anymore.

I got you. Of course it's easier said than done. But you got to be nuanced and able to read the room. Maybe think ahead to avoid being in trouble (work, edgy neighborhoods).

But in the end, you must not care. Even insults. Insults have the value only you give to them.

Take care ♥️

Vikunja might be what you're looking for.

The android app is in development since forever, so don't expect to have one anytime soon, but the PWA is good combined with a password manager for the logouts.
