I think it started with Linus and Luke of Linus Tech Tips doing a 30 day linux challenge to see what it's like daily driving linix. Jeff of Craft Computing did one recently as well.

Based. Unskippable logo screens are a nuisance.

Is Steam really a monopoly when Valve doesn't try to stifle competition and no other company could be bothered (besides maybe GOG) to make a half decent store?

Through the power of buying two of them!

I was born and things spiraled out of control.

There'd still be denial.

How are you supposed to even type that hot mess of an equation?

I hope the writing is better than 3's.

The OS you use doesn't really matter, what matters is what VPN server you use and to an extent what client you use. I've used AirVPN for about 3 maybe 4 years now with no issues and they allow port forwarding. qBitTorrent is a well regarded client and provides a setting to bind to a particular network interface (IE the virtual NIC provided by your VPN), this is much more reliable than a VPN client's killswitch feature.

There was a post the other day about other lemmy servers that had thousands of inactive users. The OP contacted the admins of those servers to let them know and several admins did purge a load of accounts.

I don't know but I'm interested in the answer.

Can I call you a taxi?

Zsh + oh-my-zsh

I use systemd mount files instead of fstab, that way I can specify a network dependency in the off chance there's no network connection. Plus I can have other services like jellyfin depend on that mount file so it starts after the share is available.

In Rimworld you can click on a pawn and see all of its health stats, stuff like heart blockages, leg and arm injuries, immunity progress of diseases and other things like that. It would make things so much easier. I'd look at my health panel and see "Common Cold (87% immunity)"

TempleOS?

I don't mean to sound like I'm super smart or anything but I didn't have any issue figuring out mastodon or lemmy.

Piracy isn't stealing and neither is this.

Stuff shouldn't include temporal or subjective aspects in their name like New Technology File System, Grand Unified Bootloader... that's all I got but you get the idea.

What is this RimWorld?

Merlin - It's a birding app and can identify birds by picture or by their song.

I could totally see this in the next Borderlands game.

There needs to be a way to tag posts, similar to Reddit's flair system but with multiple flairs.

Also related to the aforementioned, a working search by flair system. Searching posts on a subreddit by flair never worked for me.

Based on my usage I'd have to get one of the higher tier of plans. I'm not entirely against paying in theory, but when reddit actively protected subreddits that spread hate speech and misinformation? No I'm not paying.

Well for one thing the laptop doesn't belong to OP so it's not their's to mess with.

Title should have been "Sub rule"

  • Cathode Ray Dude - goes over tech from the 80's, 90's and early 00's
  • CloudCuckooCountry - Infrequent book reviewer
  • Distant Signal - Like trains? You'll like Danny Harmon
  • Great Art Explained - Does exactly what it says on the tin
  • Jacob Geller - I'm not sure how to describe him to be honest
  • Jay Foreman - MAP MEN MAP MEN MAP MAP MAP MEN MEN MEN
  • Josh Strife Hayes - Reviews of terrible MMOs
  • Mr Samuel Streamer - High quality Rimworld videos (has also played Terraria, Stardew Valley, Fallout NV and other games), has a bit of a motor mouth however
  • PatricianTV - Extremely long video game reviews; his Skyrim review is 20 hours spread across two videos
  • Technology Connections - Through the power of buying two of them!
  • The Unlucky Tug - Mainly talks about Thomas the Tank Engine

This isn't /r/conspiracy, that shit won't fly here.

What if the minion consents?

Tell me more about the wealth transfer.

KDE on Fedora is great. My only complaint is by default Firefox doesn't use the KDE file picker, it uses (presumably) Gnome's file picker. This is fixable but I shouldn't have to do it.
