Sounds like there might have been two builds during dev: one with the latest art that the artists were working on and one with the latest code that programmers were working on... and they never bothered to bring the latest art changes into the latest code build, probably because they didn't have time to retest it before release or something. And the epic store had the latest art version but probably missing some code fixes/features.

Hopefully they can release a patch with the newer art asset changes later...
