People want the Fediverse to grow because we can see how much damage corporate walled gardens have done to our society, and we care about others who are still trapped in a cycle of corporate abuse. We dream of a better world and see the massive potential benefits a decentralized global communications protocol hold for humanities future.

Ah yes it's ok to violate my rights, as long as a judge approves it.

There's a lot of technical answers being proposed but you really need to keep in mind your target audience. Do they actually care how it works at all, or are they less technically minded.

Take the email comparison, it makes an excellent example for people who know how email works but most people don't know so it's not helpful as a comparison to them.

For the layman it's probably best to stick to a simple description, such as: The Fediverse is community organized social media, it works the same as Reddit/Twitter but it's not owned by any company. There are a few extra steps when you first sign up, but it's well worth it for the extra control you get.

We have age minimums because the mind has not finished developing and we should also have age maximums based on the average age cognitive decline sets in.

Until we are able to properly identify outliers it's probably best to stick with the subset of the population with the highest probability of meeting the minimum qualifications for the position.

This is my go to for things that I can easily move around. It works well and minimizes use of chemical cleaning agents.

The "stick head in sand" method has become extremely popular and it is a serious problem.

For anyone who is interested here is a report from Fidelity that provides a fairly concise analysis of Bitcoin and it's value proposition.

https://www.fidelitydigitalassets.com/sites/default/files/documents/1012662.3.0%20Bitcoin%20First%20Revisited_Final.pdf

I encourage everyone to take the time to read at least the first few pages, I think you'll be surprised by what you find.

I think most lemmy devs are focused on preparing for the expected surge of new users on July 1st. I suspect after that they will have more time to turn there attention to issues like this.

It still works for me, It's a PDF though so maybe something with your browser settings.

Did you read the report I linked?

I'm glad you put the effort in, it's the only way humanity can improve upon itself.

I agree with what you've said and think this graphic agrees with you as well. I don't believe it implies that violence should be used against the intolerant but rather that action should be taken to remedy intolerance.

However I do see what you mean, as it's phrasing doesn't preclude violence either and could be further refined to highlight that point.
