While it is annoying to people like you and me, this is a good thing for the average user. Your average downloads folder probably contains sensitive information that shouldn't be visible to apps. Same with Android/data. Locking it down is annoying for sure, but it's admittedly a good privacy&security measure.

This is your nostalgia talking. CRTs were absolutely awful. I think my family still had one of lying around in the mid aughts. It was heavy, ugly, big, with truly awful picture quality and sucks down on power. Even the cheap LCD TVs we upgraded to were so much better than that crap.

I believe that once you buy a device, you own it and you should be able to do whatever you want with it. You should be able to root or install a custom OS and customize it to your heart's content. Knox coupled with Samsung's locked Snapdragon bootloader prevents Samsung phone owners from doing any of that. And on Exynos phones, when you trip Knox, some features stop working on the stock OS and your warranty is void. Doesnt matter if you relock the bootloader, those things are gone. That was already unacceptable to me. Recently though, they also began disabling the camera on the Z Fold 3 when the bootloader is unlocked, which makes me even madder.

You should switch to AntennaPod.

My experience with Apple Music has been overwhelmingly positive. Student plan is dirt cheap, barely any more expensive than Spotify and has Hi-Fi included. And the app doesn't connect to a disgusting amount of trackers like Spotify does. I'll stay on AM for the foreseeable future

We need more normal users on lemmy tbh. So far, my impression of lemmy is that it's full of tech enthusiast. I'm one too, so I largely enjoyed it, but eventually it gets annoying and tiring listening to tech bros and FOSS diehards whining about something not being open source or something. I just want more normal content from normal people. I hope boost and sync gets more former Reddit users to sign up.
