Alternative title: Capitalism doesn't care about morals and contracts. It wants to make more money.

EU should double down with a regulation stipulating that people are free to install whatever OS they want on devices (smartphones included) and companies can't gatekeep it.

Politics is bout ideology, value and belief. But here, it's about making decisions by dogmatism and cult. This is a whole different level.

Yeah, as the majority of the time, regulations work!

So they're admitting regulations work. They are making a lot less money due to random ads instead of targeting ads so they will have to charge to be sure they are still making too much.

I can't wait for the next regulations against tech corporations and social media.

Who didn't this coming? Seriously, meta will take what they want to increase the capital and makes everything else invisible.

Fediverse isn't here to say yes to everything. We have the freedom to say no and this is the power of the fediverse. It's allowing and denying. And Meta is a threat to the fediverse.

Twitter under Elon looks similar to the UK under Brexit.

This article of the BBC gives more contexts.

Improve public transportation with good lines and timetable. People will use them.

This is one of these problem with multiple unsolvable issues:

  • people are used to ad block and won't change
  • the price is too high for part of the population (-> ad block for part of them)
  • $1/month, $10/year would attract new paid account but not that much
  • people can't afford/don't want a subscription everything
  • users don't see any value in it
  • a fraction of the paid will go ad block with the price increase
  • people will circumvent the ad block block
  • capitalism

  • Save it as csv

  • On your profile on Mastodon, click "edit profile" and scroll to "import/export".

  • Choose "import", it will open a menu.

  • In this menu be sure to click on "Following list" and choose "Domain blocking list".

  • Browse and select your CSV

  • Click upload

You're playing the classic "it's the individual responsability" game. It's how you deregulate everything and the consumer losses every right.

We have to acknowledge that we have systemic or/and societal issues. This is a systemic issues so a common thing.

State of shock, the human can't do anything else than what he was doing. It's a survive strategy of the brain. This alone shows the psychological impact of a genocide on the people in a milionian of second.

On social media, especially the Mastodon

We should read this line in every article.

It's locking nobody with no standard. The standard is evolving time to time. This argument of locking the user which by the way is the same as "competition is the better" is the Apple argument to impose it's locked (walled garden) ecosystem.

It's well known strategy to argue in a way that isn't your goal to achieve another one. Apple is a master here. They use this same strategy with the future mandatory easy battery replacement.

In my country, it's a huge success. People love it at the point that even Aldi and Lidl implemented the system.

But, the huge difference with the US is cultural. People coming here from abroad have a hard time to make local friends. It can take up to 10 years to make one.

My guess is that people love the lack of social contact more than self checkout itself.

It never was a need. This is a myth build by the car manufacturers. They lobbied for the car centered model with oil companies. This never was the model.

The same applies for suburbs full of houses.

It's funny to see the others crying over it.

No, the regulation isn't just usb-c, it's usb-c and power delivery. Apple can't magically escape both of them with a "made for apple" cable. It must accept all third party cable and charger.

This is a lost for people wanting to use the Xiaomi version of Android. They are locked.

For people who buy these phones specially to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM, it doesn't change much.

The saddest is that we will always find a fan boy taking her defense. Seriously, stop! She is garbage.

Two possibilities:

  • It's a revolution. They give it a specific name and blablabla.
  • They don't say anything.

Genocide. Genocide.

For people asking, add-ons work fine on Nightly.

A good implementation would be a warning at the creation of a community. Lemmy looks if a community already exist on the instances and display them. It would be on top of a better search.

According to real math, Elon always overestimates the value.

You have an entire bad industry around autism. It's worse than people think with human rights abuses. The industry produces papers with huge methodology and data issues and COI. Autism Speak is the first relay for this missinformation.

Bypass Paywall Clean (d) is the one. It works even on Android with Nightly.

The interesting part in the NPR article is:

As the scientific evidence grew over time about the health effects from gas stoves, the industry used a playbook echoing the one that tobacco companies employed for decades to fend off regulation.

This is the case in each industry from tabacco to at the other end Autism for example. People should do their research and look for the quality of the papers and the COI (conflict of interest).

I don't know how people navigate the internet without adblock on mobile. Each website is a nightmare with the majority of the screen being ads.

Pathologizing each mistake or problem won't resolve them. You're searching for excuse, or pathologizing will be used as excuse. We will end with the same situations again and again. Education effectively fights these behaviors without excusing. But, I agree on one pathologization. The society is sick of a lack of education. This is widely due to the socio-economic situation of many of us due to some economic dogma and ideology.

Greedy companies like youtube thinking tracking people is fine don't need my money. I won't end using adblockers.
