Could someone explain what this means to non-techy people?

Holy shit, they also cancelled it. Lmao

On Wednesday, some of the people who posted about the gift card said that when they went to redeem the offer, they got an error message saying the voucher had been canceled. When TechCrunch checked the voucher, the Uber Eats page provided an error message that said the gift card “has been canceled by the issuing party and is no longer valid.”

True, but these are not the words of innocent men.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told Newsweek in a Saturday email that it is "unprofessional" to ask if the binder was sold to Russia. "What proof do you have?" he asked.

Here's where we stand (pieced together) on all of the state cases trying to get him off the ballot: https://sh.itjust.works/post/11569127

This is Castro from the NPR link: Nine states have active federal lawsuits brought by John Anthony Castro, a tax attorney and longshot Republican presidential candidate who filed challenges in more than two dozen states seeking to block Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment. In October, the Supreme Court declined to hear Castro’s case. Afterward, judges in three states dismissed his lawsuits, and Castro voluntarily withdrew his cases in several others.

Am I understanding the article correctly (especially italics) when I say the following?:

  • Putin & Xi agree to be bff
  • Putin between Olympics and Paraolympics invades Ukraine without telling him. Xi knew he was up to something, but didn't know the timing or severity.
  • Putin fails at getting it over with quickly like he had planned. He bragged that it would take 3 days.
  • Ukraine gets international support and good will while taking back some areas.
  • Putin's hired assassin's leader betrayed him and tried a coup.
  • Putin says he'll last through 5 years of fighting though.
  • Putin keeps trying to get Ukraine to do a cease fire as long as he keeps Crimea. Ukraine doesn't believe that he'll cease fire or stop at Crimea
  • China doesn't believe he'll last that long so they're trying to make peace with all sides.
  • China now thinks the Ukraine thing is interfering with him invading Taiwan.
  • Everyone doesn't know how to react with their weapons because it's taking so long.

This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.

Meta has acknowledged using parts of the Books3 dataset but argued that its use of copyrighted works to train LLMs did not require "consent, credit, or compensation." The company refutes claims of infringing the plaintiffs' "alleged" copyrights, contending that any unauthorized copies of copyrighted works in Books3 should be considered fair use.

Furthermore, Meta is disputing the validity of maintaining the legal action as a Class Action lawsuit, refusing to provide any monetary "relief" to the suing authors or others involved in the Books3 controversy. The dataset, which includes copyrighted material sourced from the pirate site Bibliotik, was targeted in 2023 by the Danish anti-piracy group Rights Alliance, demanding that digital archiving of the Books3 dataset should be banned and is using DMCA notices to enforce those takedowns.

Yet they'll spend waste billions on metaverse.

I've used this analogy before, but threads is like a huge, 5k passenger cruise ship docking in a small town in Alaska. You don't have to know ahead of time that the 2 public bathrooms, one at the general store and the other at McDonalds, aren't going to be enough. You can also forecast the complaining about how everything isn't really tourist ready. It will suck for everyone. The small museum will be overrun and damaged, the people will be treated like dirt. It's an easy forecast.

Here's the important bit, just because they've never been in the cruise line business, doesn't mean you have to give them a chance to ruin your town.

edit: made sentence make sense.

This might turn out really funny even though it's horrible right now for a lot of people in Texas. All of the women are going to leave if they can, especially ones with money and an education. Then you're left with the poor people, a bunch of incels and/or white christians fighting over the women that are left. Have fun dumb asses.

Serious note: If you have a woman or family in your life that you care about or just want to help people, get them out of Texas.

Dude needs to be pulled.

That means that a Republican who is legally barred from serving as an elector for Trump could be making decisions about voter registration, voting, and vote counts in an election where Trump is likely to be the GOP nominee.

And how are the workers being kind of blamed for everything, not him.

If you are pregnant, get out of Texas. If something goes wrong, you're fucked if you want the child or not.

“The idea that Mrs. Cox wants desperately to be a parent, and this law might actually cause her to lose that ability is shocking and would be a genuine miscarriage of justice,” Judge Maya Guerra Gamble said. “So I will be signing the order and it will be processed and sent out today.”

How to say fuck you without saying fuck you:

“When we want to include everyone and not exclude anyone, questions are raised,” he said at an International Olympic Committee media briefing.

“Our subject was not to be subversive. We never wanted to be subversive. We wanted to talk about diversity. Diversity means being together,” he continued. “We wanted to include everyone, as simple as that. In France, we have freedom of creation, artistic freedom. We are lucky in France to live in a free country. I didn’t have any specific messages that I wanted to deliver. In France, we are republic, we have the right to love whom we want, we have the right not to be worshippers, we have a lot of rights in France, and this is what I wanted to convey.”

This might explain why meta wants to join the fediverse.

A shift away from a knowable internet might feel like a return to something smaller and purer. An internet with no discernable monoculture may feel, especially to those who’ve been continuously plugged into trending topics and viral culture, like a relief. But this new era of the internet is also one that entrenches tech giants and any forthcoming emergent platforms as the sole gatekeepers when it comes to tracking the way that information travels. We already know them to be unreliable narrators and poor stewards, but on a fragmented internet, where recommendation algorithms beat out the older follower model, we rely on these corporations to give us a sense of scale.

That's exactly why I pulled that part of the article, I was hoping someone could answer that.

I think you're not going to want to hear this, but it's not your monkey, not your circus. Tell the friend that keeps complaining that you'd prefer that they take it up with the other co-worker because you don't have a problem with it. Also, that you don't really want to listen to it. You're going to have to have a backbone here because your co-worker is the one with the problem, not you.

Have they been to their own inner city stores? They suck ass so hard in almost every way. They used the suburbia template of what they offered, of course they're going to fail. Also, they're all leaving because their leases are up and a lot of people are wfh. This isn't rocket science.

I guess we have to start focusing on why they did it then.

  • 3 state Supreme Court judges found him guilty of insurrection (4, if you count the judge that said he did it, but didn't think he should be pulled).

5 out of 9 are openly corrupt, see my recent posts about it with articles. He's just the one the media focuses on for some reason.

This is my opinion as to what it's about:

  • ERIC, a non-profit that cleans up voter rolls tends to lean democrat because it's cleaned up
  • R's are trying to get it removed from states use and replaced with an AI they love
  • It will make the election be able to be contested if people start using the AI because it makes everything a vague mess.
