Naww it wasn't a question, my dude. It was a shower thought. A silly random idea that spurs some entertainment of thoughts and scenarios. But thanks! <3

Because corporate greed and the economic elite around the world hoarding more resources than ever before.

It sounds ridiculous that they assaulted an avatar. I think it is the wrong take. The avatar is just the medium. The target was obviously the person behind the avatar. It's like saying that threats over text message is assaulting her phone.

For me personally, it annoys me when emojis are used as a lazy replacement for language and it quickly deteriorates into 🥺🥺😭😭😢😭😭😰😰🙏🙏🙏 sort of bullshit.

In other communication I sometimes throw in a single smiley face because I've been told that middle aged women in particular interpret messages as passive aggressive if I don't.

My guess is that at some point some poor web dev or web admin screwed up big time and with a heart rate nearing the colibri fluttered in panic above their laptop in attempts to restore the site, finding great relief that there was a snapshot in the archives and did not have enough presence to fix all the links to get it back online asap.

I've been paying the €5 ad free subscription without other premium features for years until they announced that it will be discontinued from next month.

So then I am going to take a new look into ad blockers.

Good job, YouTube.

Contemporary Untermench Nazi Toilet Stains: We're going to terrorize innocent people and threaten them with violence and jump them simply because they exist and we're gonna celebrate past genocides with flags and marches and then we will overthrow the government and create the third reich with even more atrocities and and and...!!

Everybody else: Well, we're going to fight you every step of the way and respond to your violence if necessary.

Among the four disputed patents is one concerning improvements that reduces the number of steps – and thereby overall delay – when transmitting an uplink package; a Wireless Wake-On-LAN Power Management technique; an invention that allows a user to initiate a diagonal scroll at any location by using two fingers; and a hinge block that enables a laptop to convert to a tablet.

Welp, I guess Lenovo goes on my black list too then.

I've been meaning to rewatch Watership Down for the last twenty years but have still not managed to deal with the trauma from forty years ago.

That's ok. So do I.

Example from the article what it can look like:

Recalling the experience, Ms Patel told the same programme that she was "surrounded by three to four male-sounding and male-representing avatars, who started sexually harassing me in a verbal sense and then sexually assaulting my avatar".

She said they had used misogynistic language and "continued to touch my avatar in a way that can only be described as a sexual assault of my avatar".

So, I guess the appropriate terminology would be sexual harassment of the person by virtual sexual assault on their avatar in the VR space, or something like that.

I can imagine for an innocent person unprepared for it to be ganged and surrounded by deviants in VR sounds like it could be a proper traumatic experience. I don't think there should be downplaying or normalizing this kind of experience for the sole reason that pervs are to be expected online. There is no reason to sink expectations of society to the lowest uncommon deranged denominator.

Considering it's a laptop with a working Windows, it probably already has a licence for the hardware. Just download from Microsoft, wipe disk and install it and see if it works.

That's not brain fog. You're romanticizing a medical condition. My brain fog feels like my brain is walking through water. I know where I'm going and I know how to get there but every step on the way is slow and cumbersome and takes way more energy than it should. IDK what you are talking about. Delusional euphoria maybe.

It's only there to make the other ones look cheap.

Swede here, in the revolving door of maybe NATO membership. I'd prefer the EU to have our own military union that is affiliated with NATO but isn't devoted to American interests. Unfortunately it seems too late for such considerations with our right wing government signing treaties as fast as they can. Thanks, Putin.

Cook your own food. Ready made meals will always be made with as much cheap non nutritional filler as possible. Learn how to use a few spices, buy produce that is cheap with the season and keep track of weekly discounts in your local stores. It will save you money, you'll eat better and it's rewarding to have a tasty meal in the end.

Also I'm surprised how many people don't seem to understand pricing in general. When comparing prices, see the price per weight or volume. That is money/kilogram or money/liter (substitute with freedom units). Money per package can be deceiving if you compare 75 money for a smaller package or 95 money for a larger.

Edit: If the need to learn spices makes you overwhelmed, start out with some spice mixes! Pick a couple of different blends that are different, like one Cajun Mix and one Mediterranean and one oh idk something else culturally generic. Also salt, pepper, paprika and bullion. There. You can make lots of different sorts of foods and learn on the way what spices you like. Don't be afraid to experiment. Don't get discouraged. Some stuff will turn out meh, but others will make you go wow. All of those are learning experiences for the future!

"The government" is the abstract bogey man that can do anything, huh?

If you want some real conspiracy, take a look at multinational mega corporations and how they create an illusion of choice that ends up as revenue for their owners, controlling prices while avoiding taxes and livable wages for their workers and buying politicians around the globe.

But nooo that's too real and scary and depressing when it's much more exciting to fantasize about secret technology and aliens and whatever.

I'm skeptical anything good will come out of it, but I'm glad if I'm wrong. Meta is about making money. The fediverse is a direct competitor to everything and anything they do. I don't think Meta is interested in integrating with the fediverse. I think they want to dominate the fediverse. But that's just me.

Originally communication on the web was one directional, server to client. Web 2.0 meant active web and bidirectional communication. Hence, web 3.0 is a threesome.

Use whatever works for you. Don't take selection advice from people that make their operating system of choice a crusade and identity.

Some are ignorant. Some embrace the totalitarian rule. Yet others are so disenfranchised and distanced from power that it's a victory to be part of tearing it down. They'll never be part of the club so whatever hurts some of them is good enough.

That's my armchair analysis.

God damn, I though were being light hearted here. Now I got to go find a dark corner of shame.

The mods will by then be replaced with bots that remove every new question by default because it was probably answered like 65 years ago and if not it's not a good question.
