Well no, I think bad publicity is a thing, with current cancel culture for saying the wrong things, it can ruin your career. Also pedo allegations do hit hard.
If this was the case, Musk's career would have been over.
Instead this publicity fuels him and his wasteful endeavors.
Your career can only be ruined if you rely on other people to fund your career. He has enough money (and loans and solvent businesses he hasn't decided to tank yet) independently to keep going when others would have had to pack up.
