I didn't notice it before but youtube shows a small banner after the search trying to defend its search algorithm, so they seem to be aware of the problem
Can you/someone add a screenshot of this? I couldn't find anything about this and I couldn't see it on a couple devices I tried.
I've been under the impression they are fully aware of the impact this has and that it must be profitable given how many frustrating "features" are added by design, no dislikes being an obvious, well-known example.

Clicking it brings you to a side where they discribe, that they actually don't have the capacity to search through all videos on the platform and therefore will filter the videos by some internal parameters before they search for your keywords
