I've been extremely against Matt Mullenweg and Auttomatic ever since the Predestrogen situation.

I’m not reading all that drama about people I’ve never heard of. Got a 2 sentence summary?

Mullenweg, CEO of tumblr in addition to everything else, is harassing a trans woman for "reasons" (don't know why, not diving deep enough to find out). Is publically connecting multiple of their disconnected sfw and nsfw identities by using internal tumblr data, and harrassing them across all of those identities apparently.

The “reasons” seem important to judge the situation.

He followed her on twitter after banning her on tumblr and receiving massive backlash due to his reasons for banning her.

PhotoMatt specifically spoke about the banning of Tumblr user Predstrogen, saying that she was removed from the site for posting a threat against him. The post in question read, "I hope photomatt dies forever a painful death involving a car covered in hammers that explodes more than a few times and hammers go flying everywhere."

In an email correspondence with Know Your Meme on February 21st, 2024, Mullenweg stated that the account was not suspended for a single threat. When he reached out, Mullenweg listed the reasons for Predstrogen's suspension as follows:

Mis-tagging adult content against Tumblr's community guidelines, repeatedly.
Harassment of numerous other Tumblr users, not just me.
Multiple threats of violence, not just the one I shared.

Mullenweg also acknowledged that his sharing one example of Predstrogen's "multiple threats of violence" may have confused readers and that he considers the phrase "I hope photomatt dies forever a painful death" a "very scary thing to read."

Source Sorry I don't have better sources atm, I don't have time to look for them

LOL imagine making death threats against the admin and then going “oh poor me, being discriminated by transphobes!”

I'd kindly disagree. There are no valid reasons to harrass anyone, that story sounds fucked up.

I’m not going to join a mob after choosing to only hear one side of the story.

it seems he had banned a user for account names that were inappropriate and is being accused of being transphobic as a result.

i didn't see any evidence in the screen shots posted that shows he did anything harmful. just a lot of accusations.

Thanks.

Transphobic is not nice, but there’s too much trolling online to indulge blatantly offensive/sexual usernames on an open source project.

You can be trans without creating a hostile work environment.

Gave up Beeper when they got acquired also. Also after their iMessage implementation was patched in like 3 days.

That seems incredibly unconvincing on its own. It sounds like this person had a lot of alt accounts, probably was doing ban evasion, and kept posting things that violated the TOS.

Would WP engine not have a case that they failed to enforce their trademark?
