The open source project is fine. It’s in no way perfect but it powers a shocking percentage of the world’s web sites. It’s showing its age, is bloated, and has constant security issues but if you know how to use it, it gets the job done.
Lately, the CEO of Wordpress.com — who also heads the Wordpress.org foundation for the open source project — went after a popular hosting service claiming they were basically making billions and contributing nothing to the open source project. But from the outside, he went about it in a very aggressive and seemingly irrational way.
He also sold his stake in the "competing" company years prior and changed his terms saying the WP acronym was not okay to use after saying it was previously.
That would be why I just left WordPress.
Any software that tries to do everything inevitably fails to do anything well.
The app our the foundation? Not sure if you’re talking about the current drama with WP engine or the buggy app. I call it buggy, but it’s actually a phenomenal platform.
I don’t know.
Do you think it sucks for readers or writers or both? What sucks most about it? Just curious, not really a user, myself.
I heard from my social feed that people are claiming WordPress is getting worse because of their CEO, kind of like mainstream social.
Whatever it is it's probably Matt Mullenweg's fault

The CEO is an asshole
I get that.
