I sort mainly by top of the day or new. I wish there were more time frames for the top category, but it is my current favorite. I sort by new a lot because most posts seem to be interesting and it has been a great way to find new communities.
I'm personally using hot atm, active doesn't work as well imo
I've left it set to New for now. My Hot/Active feeds don't seem like they update all that much, at first I thought the Lemmy community was pretty quiet until I switched to New.
I've been sorting by New, gives me a nice steady feed of content to fuel my Reddit addiction. Now developing a Lemmy addiction.
Unlike reddit, the "New" content on Lemmy isn't a cesspool of garbage. For the most part it's actually good high-effort posts, and I get to see them mere minutes or seconds after they're posted.
I have been as well, but I think it's only good because the Lemmy population is a tiny fraction of Reddit's. I think once Lemmy has a huge population, "new" will also be a problem. For now it's good.
