Internet should be public like many other utilities.

You mean that Target wasn't closing stores because of theft after all?! I'm shocked.

Life for this seems absolutely insane.

Cameras connected to the public internet are such a bad idea.

Probably because he's sad that people are blocking him.

A good start, but five days is still a laughable amount. That's literally one illness, one time being sick.

But no execs, I assume.

Spoiler: it won't be $25,000.

A delayed $175,000 for 50 years? Remind me to never go to Oklahoma.

Also thank you to Washington state for passing the shield law to make this happen.

"Go fuck yourself, Texas." - Sincerely, Washington state residents

Traitors don't deserve monuments, especially not in Arlington National Cemetery.

Now seems like a perfect time to squeeze the pennies out of the lower class, according to Tyson.

Also, Tyson meat is all trash anyway. Too bad other companies are participating. Isn't this close to price fixing or something?

I highly doubt that poverty will ever be eradicated, unless we do something like shoot billionaires into the sun once they reach a billion.

I absolutely hate that. I've also seen many listings set as "Remote" but when you drill down into their description it's either like the above or "you must be within 25 miles of the office for occasional visits". LinkedIn should remove these listings and temporarily ban the businesses that do this type of bait and switch.

Friends don't let friends use Snap.

As of January 2024 Sony has a market cap of $116.02 Billion. This makes Sony the world's 119th most valuable company by market cap.

Yeah, $14 mil is the cost of doing business for Sony, a slap on the wrist.

I literally don't care about promotions at this point. I'd rather continue working from home, that benefit is way better than a promotion.

I immediately block them as soon as I realize they're a repost bot. Has cleaned up my feed nicely.

I haven't used Google for awhile now. It just became an ad-ridden hellhole.

Either full $454 million or get lost.

I modded a couple of million user subs, and ended up replacing all of my posts with the same text before never logging in again. Wonder if I've been removed from any of them yet.

Side note, my life has improved so much after not doing free work for reddit. The things I'd see everyday.. looking back I'd never do it again.

Almost like the younger generations got absolutely stalled and now have rough futures thanks to climate change.

The NAS itself will likely outlive the drives inside, just the nature of things. Hard drives follow a sort of curve when it comes to failure, most fail either immediately or in a few 10000 hours of run time. Other factors include the drives being too hot, the amount of hard power events, and vibration.

Lots of info on drive failure can be found on Backblaze's Drive stat page. I know you have shucked drives, these are likely white label WD Red drives which are close to the 14TB WD drive backblaze uses.

Went through UT earlier this summer and was amazed to see that unlike here in Seattle, all of their lawns were a deep green. In a desert.

Hope it helps with the recent abuse.

Imagine having a King in 2024

We need laws around layoffs, stat. It shouldn't be legal for execs to layoff a thousand people and still keep their own jobs. It's their failure that caused the issue in the first place - they've been safe for too long.

If you're having it automatically unlock the drive at boot, it kind of defeats the purpose. If someone steals your tower, they can boot it and copy the unencrypted contents since it automatically unlocks.

I bet they could cut costs even more by canning the CEO

Last I checked, Taiwan has been functioning without the CCP since December 1949. I think Taiwan can decide who to have ties with.

We know

All billionaires are unethical, greedy, exploitative assholes who don't deserve anything that they have.

Does removing a monument also erase history books somehow?

Seems like the definition of advanced persistent threat.

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of tech employees laid off during record profits in the tech industry

What is going on guys?

It's in the article you posted:

Experts are blaming the most recent solar storm as the cause. A G3 Geomagnetic storm rocked the Earth this past week producing spectacular auroras all the way down to the mid latitude areas in the United States. Major solar flares continue to blast the Earth causing unstable conditions for satellites. Two more M8 flares have been been hurled towards Earth causing Geomagnetic storm predictions for this weekend. The solar wind index according to swpc.noaa.gov showed 500-600km per second winds throughout the duration of the storm. The average wind speed is usually around 300km per second for mild conditions.

It's not prison, it's some sort of prison hospital. But still, life is the exact opposite end of the spectrum compared to a light sentence. Like you said, rehabilitation should be the goal, and imposing life sentences on 18 year olds is not how you make that happen.

He only got a life sentence because he made corporations look bad IMO. Not because of him saying he'd do it again.

It's almost like the US prison system isn't meant to rehabilitate and instead is meant to control the lower class and imprison the 'right' people.

These aren't for the small disposable drones. They're for other missles and large aircraft. For the missles in particular, you should also factor in the potential cost of the damage they'll cause if not intercepted.
