Fishing minigames. I hate them with every single fiber of my body specially when they are mandatory for progress or to get 100% completition

They are not relaxing, they are painfully boring

I love hard games, but only when the challenge is fair, if the game consist solely on trial and error, that's bad

I genuinely enjoy the "git gud" journey, I find it very rewarding

I’m not a console owner, are PlayStation owners really giving Sony $60 a year to play online multiplayer?

It all started with the Xbox, since people did not questioned it and received it with open arms the others (Sony and Nintendo) just copied it. It's just matter of time we end up paying on PC too

AAA PC exclusive titles also have the right to exists.

I miss playing good first person shooters...

WipeOut was Sony’s initial first-party exclusive for the original PlayStation

It was so exclusive that was ported to DOS, Windows and the Sega Saturn

IDK why the OG FPS are now a considered subgenre

Modern shooters should be called "dumber shooters" or something like that instead, I mean, you are constantly told where to go, and what to do, level desings are extremely linear so you don't get lost, puzzles are gone so you don't have to use your braincells, there are no traps nor secrets, the actions is incredibly "childlish" (when your screen is filled with ketchup it means is time to stop playing the FPS and start playing hide and seek until the ketchup is gone) everything screams "our playerbase is too dumb to play videogames, so we have to handhold them like babies" it's really hard to consider them even shooters

basic tier for those of us who just want online play and cloud save

That should be free. It's when people should have started boycotting Sony (and Microsoft and Nintendo) now it's just too late

I miss the time when this was common

I blocked the user who flooded the community with shitposting, I prefer no content rather than shitty, low quality content

I left plenty of subreddits because that kind of content was rampant and it was hard to find actual quality content, because those posts were buried in shitty memes

It can't be worse than the experience with ads they provide

To have access to those "free games" you have to pay first, so how come they are free when they are asking money for them?

Free is this:

https://www.gog.com/en/game/hero\_of\_the\_kingdom\_ii

No payments required and you keep it forever

Access to content should not be difficulted by puritan views. If people enjoy gore and create an instance about gore in movies showing very explicit (yet fictional) images of dismemberments and stuff in movies it should be banned too because is morally questionable?

If you can't distinguish between fiction and reality it should be a you problem not the whole instance you are inhabiting problem

What do you think about this? (sorry the article is in Spanish, but there is no English article)

It’s still less expensive than a PC hobby

just with the sales and free online/cloudsaves PCs are cheaper in the long run

And mods are an added value, we can even include fanmade patches that fix what developers don't into that added value

Consumers don’t have much say in what these companies do or how they operate.

Yes, they do. Microsoft tried to incorporate Xbox live onto PC and it was a failure because PC consumers didn't bought it

The same goes with paid mods, Valve and Bethesda tried to make people buy mods and it was rejected by the consumer so the have to backtrack.

Consumers have all the power in their wallet they decide what course the companies take. If a company does something that goes against your interests as consumer is as easy as stop giving them money, if you hurt them economically, they'll have to go back to the business model that gave them profits (this works only if the average consumer is intelligent enough to protect their own interest/rights)

At some point in this millenium, it became ubiquitous in games to ask for a button press before switching to the main menu and it has become a pet peeve off mine.

Fake news. It was common in the previous millenium too

The were evil since they started with all the cryptobullshit.

You must be evil to enter the crytoworld

So next year we can expect Quake III Arena, I guess

Let's flip that argument: should we all abide by American standards?

No. Kbin is Polish, I think

There’s no way Nintendo abandons the removable joycons.

Nintendo abandoned the dual screen, and that was an incredible feature, I totally see them abandoning removable controllers

That's like saying Facebook and Twitter should come to a concensus on how to name stuff

Lemmy and Kbin are different platforms that are compatible with activitypub (just like other platforms in the fediverse, like peertube, friendica, pleroma or mastodon, among others)

I don't thinks so. It popular because "pokemon with guns" became a viral meme which sucks.

A a discontent pokemon fan myself I would love someone to make a pokemon clone since Game Freak is not really interested in doing good pokemon games anymore. But "Ark Survival Evolved with knockoff pokemon skins instead of dinosaurs" is not what I want

Me neither (people can see the magazines I follow, that's public), that's why I don't have a problem with NSFW instances doing whatever they want.

I'm not here to impose my personal views onto others neither

And when he was there he said people should pay $1 to reload their weapons on Battlefield

Underage fictional content is banned in first world countries like South Korea, Ireland, Norway, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France.

Ireland is a third world country, literally

The term "Third World" arose during the Cold War and it was used to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO or the Warsaw Pact.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third\_World

And Ireland remained neutral, like other countries Finland, Sweden, Switzerland or Austria, making those countries third world countries, literally

Saying or implying third world countries are underdeveloped/poor countries is just a really bad stereotipe and shows your inculture

And when you actually pick up the controller and play one of them, you begin to feel like you’ve been through the same gameplay loop as many other games this generation: Tales Of Arise, Scarlet Nexus, Nier Automata, Valkyrie Elysium, YS 8 and 9; they’re all essentially the same action game with different spices and aesthetic fluff.

I'd quote the same fragment as you, and I'll add:

It's the same for western RPGs

All action RPG games feel "samey" (think Gothic, The Elder Scrolls, Elex, Two Worlds...) they’re all essentially the same game with different spices and aesthetic fluff.
All dungeon crawlers (Diablo, Torchlight, Path of Exile, Titan Quest, Sacred) they’re all essentially the same game with different spices and aesthetic fluff.
All DnD games are exactly the same (Baldurgs Gate, Neverwinter Night, Icewind Dale, PlaneEscape, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Dragon Age...) they’re all essentially the same game with different spices and aesthetic fluff.

Anyways, the article is about JRPGs, but the author for some reason only focuses on action games that are not JRPGs (Scarlet Nexus, Nier, Valkyrie Elisum, Ys 8, etc...)

It's like writing an article about chess, but complain about checkers

Because that goes against the fediverse's philosophy

This is all about being decentralized

Neither the DS nor the 3DS flopped, on the contrary. the DS was the most sold console in the world

And it gave us new experiences, new ways to play and also made some stuff better (like having extra info, like maps, information or access to the inventory, having that meant you didn't need to pause the game)

We should defederate from https://kbin.social/m/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com instread of celebrate it, piracy is illegal like, worldwide

So what illegal things should be supported in kbin and which don't?

That's the neat part. You don't

Just give the platform some time. It was born yesterday (figuratively), it's still a work in progress, patience.

And do most of Epic games run well?

https://www.protondb.com/

But Kbin is a platform and Lemmy is a different platform, just like Twitter and Facebook are different platforms. It's just that Lemmy and Kbin use a common protocol, ActivityPub that allows interaction between different platforms. But that does not means both platforms are (or should be) the same
