The wasabi goes over there.

Lol! "Bigoted and discriminatory"! As if they were born a cop, had no choice to be anything other that a cop, and could never be without a uniform or a weapon. Fuck 'em.

My partner was a charge nurse on a psych ward for 16 years. Many of her interactions with police were as follows:

POLICE: buzzes the desk
My Parnter: Yes?
P: This is officer so-and-so with the so-and-so police department. We have a warrant for the arrest of a patient on your ward. Let us in.
MP: Okay, but this is a secure ward and firearms are not allowed. Surrender your weapons at the security office and I'll grant you access to make your arrest when you return.
P: I'M NOT SURRENDERING MY WEAPON!
MP: Well, then can't enter this ward.

They're OK with having a convicted criminal for president. He was a criminal for the entire term.

Imagine if in 2000 the Supreme Court hadn't stopped the Florida vote count and we got a president who read security briefings about attacks on American soil and cared about climate change.

So I see that the racists in the Tennessee House have entered the "hold my beer" stage.

I'm not messing with that soft paywall. Are they saying that parents who let their frozen embryos go bad in the freezer are guilty of murder or manslaughter?

I'm not a huge McDonalds fan, but I used to get lunch there occasionally because it was fast, convenient, and inexpensive. Now it's none of those things. I think the self-serve kiosks somehow made things worse.

Meta is not a brand new, fresh-faced corporation that maybe needs a chance to prove it's good intentions in the fediverse. It is an established entity that has a history of killing competition and often being on the wrong side of social issues. It should be rejected from federation outright because of its track record, if nothing else.

Darcy the human wants healthcare. Trained trash pandas want apples. Why are we even discussing this?

But what about second breakfast?

More fun facts! The yellow banana we buy today is the Cavendish Banana, which is similar to, but not the same as the Gros Michel banana that was popular years ago (which was decimated by a blight). This is why banana candy doesn't taste like the bananas we eat today. This is also where the trope of slipping on a banana peel came from, since Gros Michel peels are much slipperier than Cavendish peels.

As a former professor, offer me twenty bucks and I'll laugh in your face and tell you to get the fuck out of my office. I say this as an honest educator, but the answer would probably be the same from a dishonest one.

I just realized that Kevin is probably richer that Trump.

I've seen that as well. I unsubbed from subreddits like r/badcopnodonut, r/leopardsatemyface, and r/hermancainaward months before the API debacle out of outrage fatigue. It's not that I don't care about the injustice, it's just that I got tired of the negativity from the spectacle du jour.

Biden might not be everything you want, but voting for Biden is like hitting from the tee to the fairway. You're partway there, and set up well to take care of the rest. Voting for Trump is just teeing off straight into the water hazard.

On edit: Credit to Carlos Alazraqui for the golf analogy.

I'm sure the Republicans in the house will get right on this after they're done elevating an election denier to second-in-line to the presidency.

I just read about this! The bowl of petunias was an incarnation of Agrajag. "Not again" referred to being killed by Arthur. Again.

Biden should be talking up the soft landing every time he answers a question, imho. Uncle Joe saved us all a lot of pain with that.

It was a flash game called flOw. You're just a microbe wandering around eating things, and you occasionally evolve, based on what you ate. I can't find an instance that works properly with a flash emulator, but that game would actually lower my heart rate.

I kinda consider the errors and lags to be like those dog bowls that keep pups from eating their kibble too fast.

It's a shame that beehaw had to use a "nuke" because other moderation tools weren't available, but I think it makes for a great natural experiment in the early fediverse. Beehaw wants to build an instance with higher community standards, as is their right. Will defederation of lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works lead to fewer sign-ups at beehaw? Will members leave? Will they just make accounts at other instances and keep their beehaw account? Will this help spread membership to smaller instances? It should be interesting.

"Before, I used to buy eggs for 70 rubles ($0.78) a dozen. Now they cost between 130 and 140 rubles ($1.45 to $1.56)—twice as much," Ilia Zaroubine, a 21-year-old student, said.

I realize that it's probably a greater percentage of total wages, but by US standards, that's still dirt cheap.

I'm not sure why I like this so much, but I do like it a lot.

How is this narcissistic, megalomaniac clown still leading in the race to be the Republican candidate for president of the United States? I often thought that the one to take him down would be a Republican with a conscience, but there doesn't seem to be any of them left. If we don't mobilize Gen Z to vote we just might be living in Gilead soon.

Hey, now! Moscow Mitch hates being called Moscow Mitch, so we probably shouldn't call him Moscow Mitch because the nickname Moscow Mitch might become popular again and that would upset Moscow Mitch on the day that Moscow Mitch announced that he's stepping down from Moscow Mitch's leadership role.

I hope the best for them as well, but even if they make it to the surface, they can still suffocate because they're bolted in from the outside.

Stealing a Supreme Court pick because it was "too close to the next presidential election", then rushing the Coney-Barrett confirmation a month before the 2020 election and smirking about it on camera made me lose my liberal respect for all life. If he had a stroke I'm rooting for the blood clot.
