I'm a Linux user.

Ubuntu. It' went from a great beginner distro to a dumpster fire filled with snaps and telemetry.

If I'm being honest, they deserve it. I played Overwatch 2 maybe 10 Times, the constant reminder that you aren't playing for fun, but for a totally original and new character or something very useful like a skin in the battle pass is quite annoying. The 5v5 was at first glance refreshing but got old at a rapid pace. Just play Team Fortress 2 if you're looking for a great shooter.

The best thing to do, is ignoring r/place. If we give reddit our attention they can continue, if not they're nothing.

I just like to experiment with Linux distros. I like to get into a problem and then fix it, even if it is really annoying. After solving a problem, it's satisfying to watch the Program or something like that run like a charm.

Steam and Spotify, I just can't get rid of them. I tried to download some music from YouTube, but the way to discover new songs is just way easier on Spotify than doing it yourself. Steam seems obvious, to play games, you should buy it, to thank the dev's.

Interstellar

I would recommend using Matrix. But if you really want the "Discord experience" than I would suggest Revolt.

None, I sleep on my elbow.

Infinitime, for my PineTime.

Surviving Mars. Every time I get back to it, I enjoy it.

My lovley Logitech gamer headset from like 2014 started to loose volume overtime on the right ear. So I just manually adjusted the volume of the right ear to about 60% while the other one had 39%. Over the years that gap grew bigger and bigger. I still use them but they sit at a configuration which now changes every week or so. The right ear sits now a 132% and the left on 39%.

Interstellar

The Pacific Rim sequel. I just thought:"Why??".

If the time comes, that Fedora doesn't fit me, I will go back to good old Debian.

Custom Roms I love how I can load custom ROMs on devices. I tried to talk my friends and co-workers into it but they seem really disinterested. I even took one of my older phones and showed it to them in person. They weren't really fascinated by the fact, that I got something different than Android or iOS on my phone. The only thing they liked was, how the lockscreen in Ubuntu Touch looked.

Hogwarts Legacy: To be fair it is a big Openworld but it doesn't catch me. The Story is kind of lame the voice sounds a little bit too Much like a crappy TTS. I tried to finish it but I always stop after like 30minutes played.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt I dislike that the Openworld is like a movie. You don't need to think where you want to go, you just follow the little dots on your minimap until your are there. Its so utterly boring. I love the souls franchise, you see an NPC, walk up to her talk to her and write the important things down on your Notepad. To be fair, Wircher 3 looks absolutely beautiful after the recent patch.

Edit: I really really dislike Fortnite. Its highly overrated and it isn't even original.

Fully agree!

I never used Instagram. I've tried Pixelfed and I don't quite get it. Sure, you post pictures with captions, but I feel like there is emptiness. When I scroll through my followed users, I just see some art and photographs. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong, but Pixelfed doesn't seem very active for me.

The factory must grow...

When someone says "thanks"

Definitly Flatpaks. Although snaps have improved since I last used them. But of all I still prefer the good old shell based Package manager.

Deep Rock Galactic, after playing around with the grapple I would fall to the ground and die.

GNU/Linux and the PineTime

Nope, nothing proprietary on my watch.

Shapez.io: It's like factorio, but it is also really minimal. It is my favorite game because I can be proud of myself when I build a factory that gives me around 13 FPS. Some say it isn't playable at such low FPS, but I still enjoy it, even if it is a slide show.

Warpinator. Use it all the Time, easy file transfer without and fuss.

Want to transfer files between your PC and Phone? -No Problem

Want to send some Screenshots from your Steam-Deck to your PC? - You can do it too.

Love the macOS smile on the menubar.

Apart fron all the others, number 7 seems kinda useful.

Fedora and Debian. It just works, can't complain. Need to use windows 11 on a notebook, absolutely hate it.

NewPipe is superior, except when watching something like Mr.Beast. I don't know why but when I watch some videos from him I hear Arabic sound.

Fedora, first I just went with it to try it, but now I stick with it. It's great because things just work, and I haven't come across problems I didn't know how to fix.

Samsung TV.

The one with the radio antenna! I remember it but from my Galaxy S2 mini or something from that generation. I never used it, but it blew my mind back then.

This is one oft the longest Threads I've eher Seen in lemmy.

Horizon Zero Dawn, Super Hexagon and Hollow Knight. I tend to play Hollow Knight more often because Horizon Zero Dawn really drains the battery.
