I code stuff. I draw stuff.
I'm a Hongkonger 🇭🇰
If you're a westerner coming here because you're arguing with me about something in HK/China/Asia, I forgive you for your misunderstandings.
We are here. Right here at Lemmy
But Bobby is gonna make the most money

Unfortunately the internet is full of Americans.
Jokes about loss of life are never funny
I'm a Hongkonger, and I read Chinese for life. I have an interpretation on this.
First 3 words are someone's name.
The next 4 might be "溫水摸魚" which I believe they actually meant "渾水摸魚". This is a Chinese idiom. It means somebody is creating chaos, and benefits from it. This makes a lot more sense with the final 4 words.
I believe it's "我看到款", a potential unfinished sentence of "I saw the money".
So this note might be someone witnessing the crime, and writing down their final message in a rush.

Installing and maintaining solar panels costs a lot. Perhaps the businesses found that not profitable.
In Hong Kong, we have a "install solar panels on your roof" project, and the electricity company buys the power you generate at approx. 5x market price. It sounds great at first, but people quickly realized installation and maintenance cost so much, you can only get back what you paid for after 10 years.
This may not be relevant to the discussion because we are talking about big space, and HK houses are small area-wise.
May not be ideal for everyone but most of the time I want to learn something, I just start doing it.
Last year, I basically had no idea about self hosting and I started off with immich. Problems started to arise, but is solvable by searching online.
I also read Lemmy a lot and sometimes from this very community I get tips (such as fail2ban)
Sorry but I like majors more
The circle could've been done in one equation
My uncle doesn't drive nor consume pork anymore after returning from Canada, but every time we ask about that, he doesn't say anything useful.
So my theory is he hit a pig with a car and felt sorry or something
I discovered this on a Reddit post during a high school geography lesson about river
"食西北風" (Cantonese, "eat north-west wind") or "喝西北風" (Mandarin, "drink north-west wind"). It originally means having no food or drink, in other words, starving.
The meaning of this phrase is further extended to "running out of business".
This is also partially where my username came from.
Why not just water
A lot of our accounts are gonna be 1 year old in similar times. Mine is on 11 June.
Learnt a lot of open source stuff in the meantime!
mfs would be like "the product isn't the same as advertised"
Honestly I want more ads like this too
I'm 19 yo, and I proudly announce that I have never been trapped by social media. I'm that one guy who never uses Instagram, and you can only find me through my close friends. I just don't care about whatever they are doing. Honestly that's something that has shaped my mental health pretty well.
For communication, it's unfortunate that everyone uses what everyone uses. My strategy right now, is to wait. Patiently. Waiting for those big platforms to fuck up. You can't expect anyone to go a different path instantly. Being too pushy about FOSS may disgust them, and backfire.
For example, my dad recently expressed his hate for Google Photos, so I offered him Immich, and he's happy about it. Now I'm waiting for the opportunity for Matrix.
My dad did that, and one day I walked out of my room and saw only peels on the hanger. I looked down and saw 3 naked bananas on the floor.
But they did take longer to spoil. That's why we forgot about them.
It says "Foreigners' Chinese work permit system failed/broke. Please wait patiently"

If a big scary creature is kind, it is not scary
This doesn't help when everyone else doesn't "Don't"
The highlighting with word arts made this sound like lyrics from a Bill Wurtz song
A bottle of mustard. I add it to my hot dog during lunch.
Frick, my website uses .ml and it's gone.
And they keep assuming others are American too.
Because Lemmy hasn't made it to the top yet. Be patient

It is as meaningless as the posts about driving 43 hours in the same country. Hong Kong has 18 districts, and Wan Chai is one of the smallest ones. However, it's also one of the most concentrated commercial area.
"eat chicken" specifically refers to winning a battle royale. Not sure if it came from PUBG, but this term got really popular in the PUBG era.
It was the old image of Chinese products (edit: also services), but recently their quality has increased significantly. On top of that, the price is much lower than alternatives.
I need to find that copypasta again

Unconventional in what sense? For westerners? A wok probably
I used to hate wok because it is so big to wash, but then I started understanding its versatility. I still hate washing it tho.
You clearly forgot to order your pizza with cheese-filled crust
That's how to get famous
This is actually my diagonal monitor background
Fewer people, fewer idiots. I'm glad that people here are actually sane.
