I just read in Wikipedia that Valve is privately helded.

There must be something magical in the fact that they don't need to feed their shareholders with mountains of cash every quarter, and actually focus on their customers, as happened in this post.

For history fans:

LZ77 and LZ78 are the two lossless data compression algorithms published in papers by [two Israelis named] Abraham Lempel and Jacob Ziv in 1977 and 1978... Besides their academic influence, these algorithms formed the basis of several ubiquitous compression schemes, including GIF and the DEFLATE algorithm used in PNG and ZIP.

So the "let's give our people nothing and expect them to land on the moon" attitude doesn't work after all, how surprising!

The CEO short-term logic makes sense: Yahoo search = Lower cost = Higher profit margin = Happy shareholders = Happy CEO

But she forgot that: Yahoo search = Shit

It's very interesting to see how primitive services such as government's services requires citizens to have a phone. So eventually you can literally not be a citizen without a phone.

I hope they'll win, so everyone will understand how stupid and propriety our era is and there is nothing we can do about it, just stupid along with it.

Look at your keyboard and you'll get your answer (hint: Microsoft symbol)

Microsoft integrated itself into every aspect of the industry (and beyond) to be a monopoly, as part of making technology.

Linux in the other hand, is just a technology, which doesn't really cares about market share, profits and being a monopoly.

In my case they didn't disable the option to use any authenticator for 2FA.

So I just use another one.

I don't see why forcing MS Authenticator will be better than any other authenticator.

The person who forces it is for sure not a security expert.

It will be easier to hackers to hack 2FA when they know what the authenticator app is, versus hundreds of different authenticator clients.

I agree, and I think it's even more broader: Anxiety and stress. These are extremely dangerous and underrated, and even exploited by many (e.g. news, politicians, workplace, social media, marketing). It's like sticking a cigarette into your mouth without you able to immediately take it out.

Well done Ethiopia
