The public face a politician puts forth is often very different than the actual person, and it's been that way since forever.
They're pretty much just political evangelicals
Pretend to be someone to take your money, get power, and laugh as they get to lie to you
100% of the time.
That excuse only goes so far, though. Some aspects of her public image may just be an act, but she’s doing real harm.
Okay but there's a bit of a gap between "He's extra polite to the waitstaff when he thinks there are cameras watching" and "she publicly decries drag queens as child sex criminals but commits sex crimes in front of children with someone who owns a drag bar". I agree that it's a difference of degree rather than kind but differences of degree matter.
