I personally had serious concerns. Since every trump voter will vote for him even if he slaps their grandma, they either had to win over rational people or make them apathetic to vote. Given their candidate, they took the second option. Now every argument they fixed in their base’s heads apply to their candidate. This, and the moves in France to defeat the right wing, are quiet acts of personal sacrifice for the greater good.
