Pete Rose, Major League Baseball's all-time hit king, has died. He was 83.

Shit, the over/under was 85 and I took the over.

Pete deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Particularly now that every other commercial is a betting ad. I think the real reason they kept him out was that they didn't want to give him the satisfaction of an award speech. Now that is no longer a concern, and they should definitely put him in posthumously.

Yeah, the hypocrisy is fucking rife.

I had a similar feeling when they had that Field of Dreams game several in 2021 b/w the ChiSox and Yankees. Kevin fucking Costner walks his ass out to the mound and gives a lovely speech, and didn’t say one god damned word about Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Players still aren't allowed to gamble. Coaches sure aren't. Player- coaches sure as fuck aren't. Player-coaches who pull themselves in high- pressure situations for a Mendoza-line player can get fucked.

Yes, and he got a lifetime ban for that, which is now over. There are other assholes in the Hall. They should let him in. It would thrill all those Cincinnati fans to be able to see that.

Eh, he never bet on any games he was involved with (according to him, and MLB never claimed they had proof he did). Sure, ban him from playing anymore, but the dude is a legend of the game and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm pretty sure the reason they never relented was because he was an asshole that nobody liked.

He's secretly gambling up in heaven now ❤️ only for the angels to win, of course

What's the current odds on him coming back? I've got a double sawbuck...

Love how there doesn't even appear to be a baseman threatening to get him out

If this is the picture I am thinking of, he is really sliding into home and the throw is coming in late so the catcher is off the plate, out of the frame.

He really didn't need to slide, but of course he would, because he is Pete Rose.
