Gnome: Is there a way to ahve any window available as a dropdown over all workspaces?

I would like to have a browser with some long running tabs available at all time on all my workspaces -- is there an extension for that?

It's not a gnome extension, but you can use tdrop to implement this functionality. This a shell script that lets you make any program a drop down. Once you have the command you want to run, you can then add key bindings to gnome to toggle it.

Any idea if this supports Wayland, or just X?

Edit: Looks like it's only X

Something like this would do it. Looks unmaintained as of Gnome 41. It may or may not work with higher versions

This will definitely be a problem if you upgrade to 45, as all plugins will need to be updated to work.

That’s a real shame, because your question reignited my own search for the same thing

welp, i'll bookmark this. if i have some time in the future, i'll look into porting it to recent gnome! thank you~!

I don't know, but am commenting, to remember this in the future. I'm a total archaic beast. Please don't judge me.

There is an extension. It might be the guake one.

I remember finding it to use for the terminal but found out you can set up multiple apps. I tried it with firefox...
