What’s left of my childhood NES games

Not pictured: Bible Adventures. I know I had more but I must have traded some in. I for sure had Jaws and Jack Nicklaus Golf. I replaced the 72 pin connector and she runs perfectly still. I couldn’t believe how spotless it was when I opened it up. Btw, sorry if this is formatted weird. Still trying to get used to Lemmy.

And here’s the console

SO CLEAN

Ahhh, the original TMNT game. The water level was the bane of my childhood. I don't think I ever did beat that game, actually.

I've never gotten over the trauma of that water level tbh

I remember the few times I finally beat it getting to some part in the next sewer and could never make the jump. Never made of farther.

Still a great game until that point that I played a ton, and the music is still stuck in my head.

Four controllers?! You have to hunt down an NES Four Score and get some Bomberman going 💣

The 4 controllers is a little bit of a mystery to me, haha. I think I might have somehow "inherited" 2 controllers and an extra copy of Mario/Duck Hunt from my little cousin at some point....for some reason. Good shout on the four score. I didn't even know that was a thing! That would be cool to have for hangouts.

The charm of older game cannot be beaten. One of my favorite is Mario paint on the SNES, and also super Mario rpg the legend of the seven stars on the SNES. I never got too much into the NES, expect for the Mario games.

was just playing mario rpg the other day (snes emulator), it's a fun game

One of my favorite is Mario paint on the SNES

That's one of my favorites on the SNES too! I still have it and the mouse. I'll have to post pics of the SNES collection next. But yes, I spent hours and hours making music in Mario Paint and playing the fly swatter game. I never played Super Mario RPG as a kid. I want to play it, but it's gonna have to be on an emulator because the game has become crazy expensive.

Great!!! The fun game my brother and I would play would be the fly swatting game with the mouse.

They are remaking the rpg game on the switch which is exciting - I recall it was hard to see some details on the SNES for an rpg

Bible adventures brings back so many memories. It's the only game we were allowed to play on Sundays. Hahaha

Hi, I do console repairs and I've done a metric ton of NES. If that 72 pin connector was after market, it will probably wreck your games. If you still have your old connector, or if you can buy a used OEM connector, do the following:

get at least 70 percent iso alcohol and a toothbrush and scrub the connector pins. Next, take the old connector, boil it in water for half an hour and let it cool. Reinstall and test. Don't be afraid to hit the pins with iso again.

This will save the vast majority of oem connectors, and your games will thank you.

Thanks for the advice! It is in fact an aftermarket connector. I got it after my attempts at cleaning the original one had no effect. I did keep the OEM connector, however. So I will try your method on it and see if I have better luck.

Ive done the repair suggested and it worked for me! Your stuff looks like its in great condition, it'd be a shame to lose games to a bad connector.

Very nice. Also, TIL there was a Bible Adventure NES game.

Bible Adventures was simultaneously a terrible and great game. I spent so much time wrangling animals trying to get them on the ark.

Nice. I can’t believe my conservative parents didn’t have me play it.

How’s Toxic Crusader? I never got a chance to play it.

The only thing that goes harder than the soundtrack is the difficulty level. I don't think I ever made it past the second stage. I basically just played the first level over and over and never got tired of the music.
