I am sad that censorship is still, still, a thing that is considered by the people who write the laws in the US. This law is antithetical to all of us who enjoy the freedom to express our views without restraint.

Always ask yourself, "Who profits from this?"

My read is social media companies and Karens. Social media companies because it raises the barrier to entry (would Lemmy be able to handle PII properly?) and gives them even more data.

But you should know that if it's a law or act with kids in the title, it will have absolutely nothing to do with kids in any way
