How do I view long screenshots without them being blurry?

acetanilide@lemmy.world to No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world – 27 points –

Tried to research this but it only told me how to create one, not view it.

My problem is that anytime there is a long image, namely a scrolling screenshot, it is blurry and unreadable when I try to view it. This includes when I just zoom in as well as when I save the image to my own photos and try to view it from there.

So how am I supposed to do it? These (seemingly) aren't low quality images because it happens every time - on here, text messages, search results - and no one else ever says anything about it.

There are no issues viewing other types of images and my phone is updated.

Also, I'm on Android.

If you're talking about Lemmy, it depends on what you're using to browse. I use boost and for images like that, at the top right of when I have the image open there is a "HD" button which loads the image in full quality. Take a look around the UI when looking at an image, you may be able to find a button like that. Another option is to go into settings and look for an option to always load images in the best quality, that would also probably help.

Good luck 😊

I never knew this. Thanks, now to find a long screenshot to test this.

Are you using sync? This is a sync bug.

Open post and tap on the image there, usually works for me.

I take it you're using an app and not a web page? Check the settings for your app and see if it has a maximum resolution for photos.

Try pressing and holding on the image and from the popup menu choose "open link in external". That's what I usually do if an image won't load or if it looks weird and no one else is saying anything about it. I'm using Jerboa on Android.

Thanks. Gonna try this first since I'm using Jerboa as well. But, of course now I can't find an image to look at lol.
