I'd forgotten how Metal the cicadas look over there.
Ours all just look like this so pictures like yours look like some kind of Undead version or something to me, with its crazy red eyes.
We get this kind here too:
That one looks a lot more normal but... why does it look like I can see the tree through its head???
If you zoom in on it they look like little shoulder pads that might be some form of eyespots. The pattern on the back even looks like teeth like it's pretending to be a snake or something
