In my opinion Qi's main feature is convenience. Having used Magsafe daily for a few years, 15W is okay. When I want more speed, I plug in.

I seriously don't understand why plugging in a cord is so hard than putting a phone on a lil plate?

It’s a few things for me personally:

  1. Magnet/wireless charging is a one handed operation while corded charging is two

  2. The magnet/wireless charging as a whole is slightly faster. At least one second, or more if you have an iPhone and don’t want to scratch up the stainless steel around the port. What do I do with that saved time? I don’t know either, but having one extra second is never a bad thing even if it’s not necessarily good

  3. Wireless charging is easier in the dark

Whereas corded charging only provides the noticeable benefit of superior speed. This isn’t necessary if your battery is lasting through the day though. Now wireless charging is less efficient, so that sucks, but in use no one is actually noticing the extra electricity used and it’s probably equal environmentally to someone who charges and uses their battery multiple times a day.

Unbelievable! Can't believe people like you exist but thanks for the explanation.

You’ll probably find that most people prefer new conveniences over the old ways. Some older things like fountain pens are cool, but corded charging doesn’t have the same draw

I don't get why higher than 5w is needed. I charge my phone while I sleep. Wireless is super nice.

For when you have a low battery but are going out in less than an hour. You can always use a lower wattage charger for overnight.

Why switch chargers? Don't all Android phones have these options?

Not necessarily switching chargers, you can have a charger that lives by your bed thats slow and a fast one that you keep maybe by the couch. Then you wouldn't need to fiddle with settings every night

Taking the phone out of the case first is hardly convenient.

Never had to remove a single phone I've ever owned from the case to wirelessly charge.

Then your cases are thin sleeves that don't protect against impacts.
