As a particularly flaming leftist, I’d rather judges have to give up their political associations and take on a duty of being nonpartisan.

In an ideal world we could automate nonpartisan offices since no human is capable of doing it without bias. Since it's not an ideal world, I'd prefer judges who lean closer to liberal than conservative, since the conservative ones seem pretty hellbent on marching in lockstep with the Republican party to make marginalized groups more miserable than they already are.

right? at this point for the justice system, "liberal" and "conservative" mean "has morals" and "freely accepts bribes", respectively.

Automation requires programming and logic decisions, which implies bias by the people planning and writing the code. Unbiased automation ain't gonna happen.

It would be nice to have an apolitical court tied to principles of honesty, integrity and justice. Sadly, this is the state of the court instead:

The conservative bloc includes one justice who occasionally votes with the liberals, such as when he joined them in a 4-3 opinion to reject Donald Trump’s request to overturn his presidential loss in the state. The other conservatives sided with Trump.

"Giving up political associations" is way easier said then done. In particular because reality appears to lean liberal to a significant number of conservatives.
