I feel sorry for the 19 year old, who was terrified and didn’t want to go but went because it was Father’s Day weekend.

That CEO, though, he got what he earned.

Reading about the kid was heartbreaking.

This quote is pure hubris: (oh irony)

Oh my god I only know a little bit about galvanic corrosion from messing around with aluminum fishing boats. I had no idea this was at play here.

This guy was a fucking moron.

He's not wrong, he'll be remembered for the rules he broke. Perhaps the quote wasn't meant as an inspiration, but a warning. MacArthur did lose his job over his rule-breaking.

That thought occurred to me as well...

Knowing which rules can (or even should) be bent/broken, and which rules absolutely shouldn't be compromised can be difficult but... not in this case. This was easily avoidable.

Oh no.

Anyway, there are thousands of refugees getting drowned every day and they don't pay $250K to kill themselves and their kids in a sub made by a guy who thinks safety is stupid.

Wow, relax, dude. This isn't reddit.

People are so mad about other people having opinions on billionaires doing stupid things lol

Video #1 looks like an awful way to go - I thought I'd read somewhere that it would be somewhat instant and the meat man suit looked far longer than instant.

Well yeah, the entire implosion takes a little longer than an instant; but the death itself would be fractions of a second. The "body" in that suit was dead long before the blood started falling out its head.

This was a controlled depressurization (they used a release valve and let the pressure creep in). This shows what the pressure can do over time. Now image that be happening instant because the structure holding back the pressure failed all at once.
