What sorting method have you come to prefer on lemmy?

Default active showed too many old posts in the feed that never disappeared.

Hot was a little better, but still put too much weight on upvotes and comments leading to several day old posts showing up consistently despite all the communities I had subscribed to.

So what I've settled on for now has been new and top day, which has now been showing more new content instead of posts being buried.

New and top day are my picks as well for sure. New is for when I'm feeling social and want to dive right into fresh conversations, while Top Day is great for checking out what went on and allows me to pick up converstaions that have already formed.

I definitely recommend not sticking to one, but pick 2 or 3 to switch between, depending on your mood. This way the new posts get bigger and the big posts stay active. We're all in this together, let's keep lemmy living!

Yeah, I've liked new, since otherwise stuff people post remains buried by the current default active option. New comments is pretty cool too. Just wish it was usable for all, because it keeps live updating and pushing what I want down. Sometimes 10 new posts show up at once then those just get pushed down. Ended up being unusable at times because of that.

The auto scrolling bug was fixed in the latest version of Lemmy. If you're instance isn't on 0.18.0, talk to your admin about upgrading.

I've been flipping between Hot, New, and Top Day. I end up spending most of my time in New though.

Yeah, I tried sticking with new exclusively for a while but then lemmy just constantly pulling new content and pushing what I was looking at down got annoying. Doesnt work without Javascript either so couldn't figure out how to stop the constant live updates. Not so bad for subscribed but was too aggravating to use for all.

I have my instance on 18.0 and it seems like that may not happen anymore. Beehaw hasn't updated yet, maybe due to the captcha issues being fixed in 18.1.

Oh that is exciting. It's amazing how much progress is being made since I've joined.

I always ran my subreddits an "new" and i run my "subscribed" feed as "new" too.
