At the risk of sounding stupid giving a serious answer to a joke question; I don't know the details but lemmy might not work, because the 3DS doesn't support the ciphers lemmy uses. Other sites might work, because they support older ciphers for backwards compatibility. A reason why lemmy might not want to support those is, that it could give attackers an opportunity to "hijack" your login because they can decrypt what you're sending to lemmy. If you just wanna browse lemmy anonymously tho, you should be able to do that, yes

Or, might be because blahaj (I assume) uses Let's Encrypt as the certificate provider which is rather new and might not be recognized by the 3DS. LE, unlike other certificate providers, isn't scummy and provides them for free (as they should be).

This is exactly the reason. The newer CA certs for let's encrypt were never loaded in the 3Ds because Nintendo dropped support before they were generated.

If I'm not mistaken there is a homebrew tool to load them. I lied, I can't find anything related to this.

that homebrew software sounds interesting because i remember it existing too and i also can't find it

blahaj (I assume) uses Let’s Encrypt

Correct.

Screenshot of lemmy.blahaj.zone certificate details showing it was issued by Let's Encrypt.

at least you can use mastodon in the meantime

ok that’s really cool but pretendo already has the miiverse so i wonder if the mastodon website works

update: same error code as this post on mastodon.social :(

I found out the same thing. I wonder how hard it would be to make a Lemmy app for the 3ds for the lolz?

I had some luck with mlmym. There's an instance at old.lemmy.ca.

i'll try once i get home later today, i actually tried mlmym on blahaj but that's what this error is from anyway

I'm getting Error Code 032-1035 on my new 3DS XL. I'm pretty sure that the new models have a different browser, as they allow for 3D video playback in the browser and some better navigation features.

Heh. I should try digging out the Nintendo DS browser and see how it works with Lemmy. That thing worked with barely any damn websites even when it was new. And it didn't help that DS only worked on open Wi-Fi (and WEP, but that was pretty much broken already by the time the browser came out)
