Under Musk’s leadership, X has become increasingly hostile toward nudity and explicit content. This week, X started flagging NSFW posts as “sensitive material,” as Rolling Stone reported, and restricting flagged accounts to limit their reach. Sex workers said their engagement tanked and their accounts no longer show up in X’s search, even if they weren’t notified about being flagged.

Let sex workers be, you weird puritans.

Hey dont insult the Puritans, they were generally egalitarian and anti-slavery, also John Brown came from a Scottish Puritan background. If you got the Puritans of old to interact with these modern fuckwads youd pribably need a hazmat team to clean up whatever was left.

While it sucks and in no way defending these actions many sites including twitch, youtube, etc typically rely on advertisers. So deprioritizing sex and violence is typically the caused due to advertisers dictating what material they want associated with their brands. Coke probably doesn't want to be associated with a person getting double teamed if they are aiming for a "family brand". eXtwitter is probably trying to appease advertisers since they screwed the pooch ever since Elon took control and they lost a ton of negotiation power. If websites thought they can make $$$ being sex worker friendly they would do it but typically the ads for adult sites have terrible payouts. This is the dangers of a "free" internet.

Have you seen what Elon tweets? He wants anything but a family brand.

And that is partially why many of their advertisers decided to fuck off. Except now they are hemorrhaging far more money, so while their head may be shooting the shit. The actual adults in the room know who feeds them.

free internet

controlled by the whims of massive corporations

You are very close to a realization here.

There are some things only achievable via massive corporations. You aren't going to be able to copy a youtube or twitch on a fediverse style, well technically possible but very ill advised since storing full video is pricey and the bandwidth requirements will kill the host in costs.
