After 20+ year I've finally finished Oracle of Ages

Got the games years ago for the GBC, and I've always love it. But I always got stuck in a handful of dungeons. Level 3, level 4, level 6, and finally the black tower.

But I was finally able to solve it myself with no hints! This is in my view one of the best Zelda games.

Have you got Oracle of seasons? I had both when i was younger. They're awesome games set in the same place but slightly different.

When you beat one you get a ring code so you can take stuff into the other version of the game too.

Ages was more puzzles from memory and seasons was more fighting oriented.

I have such fond memories of them both

Got seasons when it was on 3DS VC and beat that a while ago. Love the password progress thingy.

I'm wondering, did you buy the Vita recently or did you buy it while it was still sold in stores? I'm seeing a big resurgence of handheld emulation and think it's wonderful that it lets us play through famous older titles! I just bought a 3DS XL and am planning to play some old games I missed, too!

Had a Vita 1000 since launch (got the first edition bundle). Then years later I got a Vita2SD which destroyed the card reader (my mistake). So I got this JP Vita 2000 since I wanted one in Blue and the Vita 2000 is pricey.

Retroarch is a wonderful tool to play older games on whatever you have, though it's a lot of work, the effort to get a device like a GBxCart or to hack a 3DS to get the ROMs is worth playing.

Personally I miss small form factor systems like the Vita, and hope that there will be a Steam Deck Lite one day that is pocketable.

I would buy that SODAMNFAST! Lol

Ah, but did you get the RetroAchievements for it? I've been on a retro game binge lately, and it's been really cool to get achievements. Definitely helped me stick with a couple games and finish them, and they've encouraged me to do things in game that I wouldn't have otherwise bothered with.

Nah, not much of an achievement hunter. And filling in the map in GBC Zelda usually gets you most of the secrets.

Wanting to replay this game is how I learned that it's super easy to crack the vita nowadays. I had mine collecting dust in a drawer for several years

Man, I forgot what the Vita looked like.

I wonder why Sony gave it such an odd name?

"Vita means life"

Not that Sony game it any chance

It's just so odd given that the PSP was perfect. It was straight to the point - PlayStation Portable

That's awesome, well done! Any idea if it's worth it to take the passwords you've earned over to Oracle of Seasons in order to unlock the alternate plot points, expanded story and extended ending? I always liked the idea of the two games interacting to create a third unique experience, but never knew anyone who actually used the interactive features.

I played through both back when I was a kid. Definitely one of the best experiences on the game boy color.

I've tried it, but honestly when I started this session of Ages I didn't care. Might do it when replaying Seasons thou.

Some of the dialog is different but the bulk of the game plays out the same. Also Pippin and Blossoms kid keeps growing up. At the end of the second game though you get to beat Twinrova and Ganon.
